MSc in Photography & Urban Cultures

In addition to these training courses, you will also be completing a doctoral thesis and a large project (60 credits). Combined with the writing part, you are required to have a sustainable and consistent work of art that focuses on one facet of contemporary metropolitanism. imon Rowe is a fine artiste, explorer and photo instructor who works mainly with photographs and film.

He has an MA in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmiths (2007) and is an Associate Research Fellow at the Centre for Urban and Community Research. Currently Simon is a part-time visiting tutor at Goldsmiths in the Department of Sociology at the MA in Photography and Urban Cultures.

Simon's work has been shown in London, among others at the Limelight Gallery, International Planned Parenthood Foundation, Stark Gallery, Photofusion and Galerie Hunchentoot, Berlin. Between December and March 2011 he presented a collection of pictures from his photo projects Wandering Still at the CUCR office in Laurie Grove, New Cross London.

Today he is a London-based author, journalist and film-maker. He' s working on a volume on old city structures and socio-geographical changes. Suzan Sontag (1977) on photography. The work of Sarah Pink (2001) is in the field of graphic anthropography. Pink's work is a very good introductory guide to some of the most important discussions in the field of social and anthropological visualization. Their multidisciplinary guide addresses a broad spectrum of theory and methodology, and it is advised to study the introductory section and sections 1 and 3 dealing with the relation between anthropography and film.

Section 4, (Listening with the Eye) offers a good debate about an extensive photographical meeting in London's East End. Worked with Caroline Knowles und Paul Sweetman (2004) on pictures the Social Landscape : and the sociological imagination. She is Gillian Rose (2012) Visually: A short introductory course in research with optical techniques. This is a useful introductory guide to research methodologies with debates on photo survey, esthetics and morals (chapters 4, 11 and 12).

Dichtung is a group of four goldsmith aluminium artists. I' ve attended a series of classes and selected the MA in Urban Cultures and Film. After a successful graduation in 2012, I founded a photo galery (Gasket-Gallery) with three like-minded people. Our goal and our mission is to support gifted and gifted artists who not only have a keen sense of photographing, but also a social commitment.

" "Here my slumbering interest in the photograph awoke. Here my resting interest in photographing was awoken. I' ve learnt to mix photographing with socioscientific fields like humanities and humanities. I have worked with photographers and organizers from all over the globe as a masters degree candidate in urban culture and have written three complete works with basic research and Sociologies.

Supported by professors, the research was carried out during my thesis and displayed in our joint exhibit Habitus, which was launched by photography and city culture undergraduates and is part of London's urban photo festival. After the course I plan to run a workshop, build up a community of city shooters in my region and of course to work.

We' re living in a period of deep-content, societal and policy changes, and this MA is engineered to provide you with conceptional and analytic instruments to reflect on and use these changes in a contemplative and ingenuity. MRes in Visual Cultures is perfect if you have already graduated in postgraduate studies in fine arts studies and fine arts studies, but would like to further refine your thought and research project to MPhil/PhD levels prior to your studies.
