Coober Pedy

Since the first of the opals was found in Coober Pedy on February 1, 1915, the city has supplied most of the opals in precious stone grade. Today, Coober Pedy is as much into agriculture as into the opals business in order to offer jobs and sustainable development to the city. The Coober Pedy has over 70 fields of opals and is the biggest area in the wide area.

Cobér Pedy is a very small city, about half way between Adelaide and Alice Springs. Cobér Pedy subterranean room, 2007. Visitor attraction in Coober Pedy are the Mine, the Cemetery and the subterranean Church ("Serbian Orthodox Church" and the Catholic Church). Coober Pedy's district council puts the number of inhabitants at around 3,500. It also has an Aussie soccer team, Coober Pedy Saints, which was founded in 2004 and plays in the Far North Soccer League (formerly Woomera & Districts Soccer League). Cobér Pedy lies on the edges of the erosion slopes of the Stuart Ranges, on 30 meter sandy and silty stone mounds with a rocky, tree free world.

Region Express also offers air services to Adelaide from Coober Pedy Airport. Coober Pedy went down under with Mike Rowe. It was presented on HGTV in an installment of House Hunters Off the Grid entitled "Cave Me, Maybe in Coober Pedy, Australia". Cooober Pedy is also part of the open plan of the 2016 Forza Horizon 3 race videogame.
