Crater & Sea Caves of Lehua
There is a shortage of flowing freshwater on Lehua and Niihau, which keeps the area around Lehua clear and unpolluted. It is a small half-moon island only 0.7 mile (.1 km) north of Ni'ihau. Unsettled, 1.15 km large island is a tufa stone dome, which is part of the extinguished Ni'ihau-volcan. is a Hawaii State Seabird sanctuary.
Many of the island's protected areas are forbidden, but access is not forbidden. It is home to at least 16 different seabirds and some non-native cats. In the past, bunnies were a major concern because they were thought to destroy the island's indigenous flora and during the drought, which is the breeding ground for most seabirds, they were thought to eat ornithological and small ornithological animals.
