Port Vila on the Efate Isle is a metropolitan city and the gate to your Vanuatu adventurous vacation. Port-Vila is a charming port city with an outstanding choice of eateries, street cafés, duty-free shops and a lively marketplace. Port Vila is the only city on the Efate isle.
There is an excellent location with an excellent access to the city and all important resort and hotel facilities. Cristal clear water and the shoreline are so clean that the visitor is amazed to look down from the sea wall and see living coral and tropic marine life. It has a jagged coast, a hilly verdant landscape, fast-flowing streams, waterfall cascades, secluded sand dunes and lakes.
Port Vila, the capitol, is surrounded by a beautiful marina with breathtaking view of the Iririki and Ifira Isles and a view as far as Malapoa Point. The Havannah Harbor on the northern side of the mainland is a dramatic cove that was used as a navy port by the whole US fleet during the Second World War.

There are many diving spots in Port Vila with a range of sight of up to 40 meters. Mele Bay's outlying areas and the Nordefate coastline provide steep walls, caves and cliffs with submerged passages and gorges that have been created by freezing volcanic eruptions over the years. This is a breathtaking cave dives, which is highly dependent on the prevailing climate. Shrimps, nudibranches and scorpion fish are found in the cathedral and the entrance is 22m high. Two adjoining sea creatures give this site its name. Scuba dip along the riffs at 12-18 meters before descending into the whitish sands at 25-30 meters depth.
A lot of pelagic species are drawn from this side. The butterflyfishes are swimming between the deerhorn corals. It is still in good condition and is sitting on a sand bottom at a depth of 34 meters. Inside there are now shoals of shoals of fish, and batfishes hang around outside, while crocodiles are lying on the raft.
An islander of 45 meters in length, severely injured by Cyclone Uma in 1987 and later sunk in the docks. Now sitting up straight and undamaged on a sand bottom at 26 meters above sea level, she is a simple, funny shipwreck-diver. On the Mele side of the cove, this dives has beautiful, colorful coral, many sharks and many rose coloured clown sharks, making it a popular spot for filming.
Riff face falls over 90 meters. Tasman was recovered, but later submerged during a cycle and is in good shape at a depth of about 40m.
