Wingapu is the capitol of Sumba in the Nusa Tenggara area of Indonesia. Weingapu is the biggest Sumba municipality and the capitol of East Sumba regeneration. Weingapu is the gate to Sumba and many people come here. Waingapu's Mau Hau International Airports (IATA: WGP - ICAO: WRRW) is a small local airfield with a take-off and landing strip operated by three local ari-lines.

Here Merpati Nusantara Airlines[1] operates from Bandung, Bima, Denpasar, Jakarta, Kupang, Mataram, Maumere, Surabaya and Tambulaka, many of the services stop in several combination of these citys. Much smaller Batavia Air[2] links Denpasar, Ende, Kupang and Surabaya, and Pelita Air Services[3] links Denpasar and Maumere.

Pelni[4] Awu arrives twice in Waingapu on its 14-day cruise from Nusa Tenggara. It will allow Kupang and some other towns in the area to have easy accessibility. Awu is by far the best and surest way to get to Sumba by boat. The meal is eaten 3 x a days, just pay attention to the words "economy" on the heail.
