Samoan News recently published a fascinating paper saying the Americans favour the US Constitution's equality treaty agreement with a view to limiting the risks to Samoan land, said Tapaau Aga, Executive Director of the ASG Office of Political Status, Constitution, and Federal Relations, during his speech to the United Nations Decolonisation Committee last June.
In the name of Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga, Tapaau gave a prospective American Samoa demonstration at the Caribbean Decolonization Committee Seminar, May 16-18, organized by St. Vincent and the Grenadines. There were four special topics, as evidenced by a reworked copy of Tapaau's recent decolonisation committee's brief.
Where' s American Samoa? "From a legal point of view, American Samoa has a vested interest in keeping the land of Samoa for the Samoans. In other words, the Samoans will be defending their own country with their own lives," he said. Tapau noted that some have been arguing that there is little to fear - that the legislation already exists to safeguard our country, even if they say that the loss of our land will never be.
However, from the point of view of the most vulnerable and the most to be lost, there is a lot of historic proof that says otherwise. "What happend to the Indians? However, at the moment we favour the trade-off that restricts the implementation of the US Constitution's equality provision in order to restrict the risks to Samoan land," he said.
There is a close relationship between the countries and the countries," said Tapaau.
