Rosalie Bay - Windy Hill

Windy Hill Rosalie Bay Catchment Trust is an active supporter of bio-diversity, nature protection, nature protection expertise, nature protection partnership and water resources stewardship. Aim is to decrease the density of invertebrates to such an extent that the resettlement of Great Barrier loss is possible with special consideration of them. Southeastern Great Barrier Island.

In 1999, phytosanitary and veterinary protection began in a small area and has grown over the last ten years to around 700 hectares with 14 land owners. It is subdivided into four areas - Little Windy Hill, Big Windy Hill, Benthorn Farm and Rosalie Bay.

It is a refuge for North Island caca, kereroo, ribbed tracks, chevron skins and pateks ("Brown Duck"). and the Windy Hill/Rosalie Bay Catchment Trust. Catching was the only way to decrease the density of pests from 1999 onwards, but surveillance showed that this was not enough and a biannual dose of toxins was launched in August 2005.

During 2008, the program began the transition to a fully toxin-based program to further enhance effectiveness and lower cost. The North Island of Robin was moved to the reserve in 2004 and 2009 - the first of all kinds to return to Great Barrier.
