The best place in Kadavu! - Retrospect of the Papageno Resort, Kadavu Island

The whole of our whole familiy was in this place last month of Dec., it really is a journey, because first you come to Nadi, where the international airfield is, and then you get to Kadavu Iceland by a small airplane, which can depart easily with some delays, beautiful sights from the airplane. There' s a very small cottage as an airfield and you are welcome, locals help with the baggage and you take a ferry to the resorts, on the isle there is only a very small route and everything is linked to the ferry, maybe like us on this journey or on their way to meet you, they start catching the seafood, great, all of a sudden you come and explore the heaven.

They are great folks, take the pause to know the yards and where they grow almost all the veggies that are serviced, and to talk to the folks, Sonyo and Lydia are marvelous. Great for scuba or if you don't take some snorkeling fun, you can be there forever, but keep an eye out for sunburns and maybe visit the manta rays.

If we' re leaving the natives for us at the resortsong and we almost cry, I have some T-shirts from the resorts and every time I use them, I really think of this place, paradise on Earth.

On your Fiji trip you will fly to Nadi on Fiji's capital Viti Levu. There you can catch internal air services to Kadavu in the small city of Vunisea every day. There are also regular services between Suva and Kadavu for those who are already in Fiji. Vunisea is 5 min. by car and then 45 min. by ferry to the resor.

Matava Resort's 3 7m long diving vessels, specially developed and equipped for our clients and our team. They' re quick and perfect for maneuvers through the complicated system of reefs along the coastline. The vessels are all in full Fiji Maritime Security Authority Survey and wear buoyancy aids, security equipment, communication gear and air medications.

The diving vessel "DIVE ME" of Madam Diving Centre offers space for a max. of 12 diver on a 2-tank diving, as well as 2 instructors and a charter. This is the first and so far only Kadavu diving centre that can div the whole length of the Great Astrolabe Reef.

It opens up unprecedented areas and divesites. Matava is fully equiped with the latest scuba gear, which includes Mares BCD', regulator and wetsuit, as well as mask, fin and computer. The instructor is certified to instruct everything from Open Waters to Divemasters.

Great Astrolabe is Fiji's 4th biggest barriere corsair and the biggest live body in the area. Kadavu's south side is 120 km long. Astrolabium is one of the world's leading dive sites with a wide variety of sea creatures and caves.

It was named in 1827 when the discovery by Dumont d'Urville's of France had a rather unhappy meeting with the coral that severely destroyed his ship "The Astrolabe". For those who want to explore Matava, there are over 20 first-rate diving spots, from 5 minutes to half an hours by canoe.
