When you are considering an overseas journey this year, it is probably an important thought how to get there. But it is becoming increasingly easy to get to distant places like Indonesia, New Zealand and even Fiji. You will be amazed that it is actually easy and uncomplicated to get to the Fiji Islands of Taveuni.

Now there are two foreign airfields in the Fiji Islands, Nadi Airport and Nausori Airport. All in all, these intercontinental airfields are receiving almost 40 intercontinental departures per flight and there are several large carriers planning to expand these in the coming years. Currently the most popular carriers to Fiji comprise Fiji's domestic carrier, Fiji Airways, American Airways, Korean Air, Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Virgin Australia, United, Jetstar and Hong Kong Air.

Nadi International is the first and much larger international airfield in the state. Niadi is situated on Fiji's largest isle, Viti Levu. Fiji reaches the vast majority of the population via Nadi International airport, which now has more than 1.2 million tourists. Indeed, almost 96% of these 1.2 million international travellers end up in Nadi.

This is not only Fiji's largest international airfield, but also serves as a turntable for other South Pacific locations. If you have reached Nadi or Nausori International Airports, you are only a few minutes away from Taveuni Island. Taveuni's home base is Matei, and there are at least three daily departures.

From Nadi Airport to Taveuni takes about 90 min. When you fly with Fiji Airways from your starting point, it is often less expensive to fly to Taveuni directly from your cosmopolitan destinations than to fly from Nadi or Nausori separately. It is also possible to make a booking for a non-stop service to Taveuni.

As a rule, these services are more costly than jumping on a regular service, but offer considerably more comfort. However, if you travel with a group, it may be less costly to charter a ticket than to book your own single ticket. It is always worth checking the rates on Island Hoppers or Northern Air, the two airlines that run this fast trip on a regular basis.

From Taveuni by boat, you must first organize transportation from the Aiport. As soon as you have reached Walu Bay on Viti Levu, the starting point of the boat, you will go to Taveuni over night. It is strongly recommended that you book a room so that you can get to Taveuni asleep and relaxed.
