The best way from Brisbane to Fraser Island? Hello everyone, we will spend a few nice and relaxing holidays in Brisbane and I really want to go to Fraser Island. Which would be the best way to do this, rent a vehicle or take a trip? Brisbane seems like we're pushing a great deal into a short period of timeframe, but I'm concerned we'll miss the best pieces on our way if we don't go on a trip.

We' ll be leaving Sydney for Brisbane on 4 January and have to return on 8 January. Had we flown from Sydney to Hervey Bay Airport, what are the limitations, i.e. times to get to the island? His likely we would be arriving at 10am so a timetable would have to pass in around our Arrivals and get to the island.....

It is a long journey from Brisbane to Hervey Bay - about 3.5 - 4 hrs each way. When you choose to ride, you basically loose a whole full and shameful days of the four you have. If you don't rent a four-wheel-drive you will not be able to bring a vehicle to Fraser anyway.

This whole island is a four-wheel drive area. I would definitely be flying from Sydney or Brisbane to Hervey Bay. Brisbane is only 45 min. away. That means much more island overtime. I' m not sure where you live on Fraser, but here is the crossings on the Kingfisher Bay Resort website:
