Pyongyang

Pyongyang, or P'y?ngyang, is the capital and largest city of North Korea. edititsection">[[edit] Pyongyang, or P'y?ngyang (UK:, US:[7]Korean pronunciation: [p?j?

?. ja?]), is the capitol and biggest town of North Korea.... Pjöngjang lies on the Taedong River, about 109 kilometers upriver from its estuary into the Yellow Sea. In 1946 the town was separated from the southern Pyongans.

As a directly managed town ( schikhalsi, www. chikhalsi.org; ???), it is managed at the same levels as province government, as distinct from South Korean towns ( zeukbyeolsi, www. teukbyeolsi.org; ???) such as Seoul. Archeologists in 1955 found proof of archeological settlement in a large old settlement in the Pyongyang area, known as K?mtan-ni, from the time of the Jeulmun and Mumun ceramics.

Pyongyang is associated with the legendary town of Asadal (Hangul: ???; Hanja: ???) or Wanggeom-seong (Hangul: ???; Hanja: ???), the first major town of the second millenium B.C. of Gojoseon ("Old Joseon") according to the history of Korea from the Samgungnyusa of the thirteenth centuries. The relationship between the two could therefore have been claimed by DPRK for the use of propaganda.

Nevertheless Pyongyang became a big town in old Joséon. According to mythological sources, Pyongyang was established in 1122 BC on the site of the capitol of the divine Dangun Emperor. 26 ] It is likely that the territory of Pyongyang was part of Wiman Joseon, the briefest part of Gojoseon, who died in 108 B.C. when Gojoseon was conquered by the Han.

bre?,[27]Standard Chinese: Pinyin: píngr?ng, Pyeongyang in Korean). During the early days of the Three Kingdoms, the area around the town was known as Nanglang. Pyongyang became the capitol of the Protectorate General to Pacify the East in 668, founded by the Tangynasty of China. Pyongyang lasted until the later Silla era, when it was salvaged by Wang Geon and declared the western capitol of Goryeo.

By 1890 the town had 40,000 residents. 29 ] It was the site of the Battle of Pyongyang during the First Sino-Japanese War that caused the devastation and de-population of much of the town. Beneath Japan's reign of the colonies, the town became an industry centre named in Japan Heij? (?? seen as ?????).

The Soviet army of 25 soldiers arrived in Pyongyang on 25 August 1945 and became the provisional capitol of the Provisional People's Committee for North Korea. 31 ] Pyongyang became the de facto North Korean capitol when it was founded in 1948. The Pyongyang administration tried to reconquer Seoul, the country's offical city.

Pyongyang was again badly injured in the Korea War, during which it was briefly invaded by southern troops from 19 October to 6 December 1950. This year the Ministry of Capital Construction Development was admitted to the Cabinet. Pyongyang is located in the western center of North Korea, on a shallow plateau about 50 kilometers eastern of Korea Bay, an branch of the Yellow Sea.

Taedong River runs southwest through the town towards Korea Bay. Pyongyang is one of the two large levels on the west shore of the Korean mainland, while the other is the Chaeryong level. Pjöngjang has a wet continent climatic (Köppen climatic class Dwa).

Between April and the beginning of May, the change from a cool, arid winters to a warmer, wetter winters takes place quite quickly, and at the end of October and November there is a similarly sudden turn back to the winters. Summers are generally hott est and damp, with the Far Eastern month of June to August being the warmest, with mean temperature between 21 and 25 C (70 to 77 F) and daily peaks often above 30 C (86 F).

Pyongyang, which is constitutional considered the capitol of the state, is home to large state and other municipal facilities. Headquarters of the Central Committee of the Labour Party and the Pyongyang People's Committee are situated in Haebangsan-dong, Chung-guyok. Cabinet of the DPRK is in Jongro-dong, Chung-guyok. Pyongyang is also the headquarters of all the large DPRK military police forces.

They monitor activity, including: policing duties, protection of official parties, secret papers, population censuses, registries, large-scale building, road checks, fire protection, civilian protection, community healthcare and custom. A further important urban facility is the State Securities Department, whose 30,000 employees administer secret service, jail policy, corporate defence, and immigration and emigration functions.

Workers' Party of Korea dominates the city's policy and leadership, as does the state. Pyongyang is led by the Pyongyang Party Committee of the Korean Workers' Party. Pyongyang People's Committee is the highest state body and is in charge of daily activities to assist the town.

These include adherence to the party's own advice, which is led by the Pyongyang Party Committee, the allocation of priority funds to Pyongyang, and assistance to the staff and family of the KWP and domestic intelligence agencies. The tower in April 2012. Pyongyang during the Korean War was devastated and completely reconstructed according to a plan that reflects Kim Il-sung's visions.

This resulted in a town with broad tree-lined arcades and open spaces with terraces, tessellations and decorative ceiling. Although a building in Korea's vernacular slightly weakens this sense, its modern Russia reminds us of a town in Siberia in snowy winters. Roads are arranged in a north-south, east-west network, which gives the town an ordered look.

Northern Koreans used the Swedes' expertise with self-sufficient districts throughout the state and Pyongyang is no different. Kim Il-sung's priority in planning Pyongyang was to restrict the size of the people. Officials continue to hold on to a strict regimen of moving to the town, which makes it untypical of East Asia because it is quiet, not overcrowded and overcrowded.

Among the most important sights of the town are: two large stadiums: The Pyongyang television tower is a small symbol. Further attraction for visitors are the Korea Central Zoo. Reunification Arc has a card of unified Korea backed by two specific Koreans in classic dresses spanning the Reunion Highway from Pyongyang to the Korea Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

Until 1946 Pyongyang had been the main city of the southern Pyongan province,[53] and Pyongyang cooking shared the general gastronomic traditions of the Pyongans. Pjöngjang is the most popular restaurant in the area, and is known as Pjöngjang naengmyeon, or even Mu naiengmyeon. Wellgmyeon is made of thin and tough beech wheat pasta in a cool bouillon with fish sauce and a disc of sweeter Chinese fruit.

Pyongyang is also the country's most important traffic junction: it has a road, train and flight route system connecting it with both national and overseas traffic. Pyongyang train terminal operates the major train tracks, which include the Pyongui Line and the Pyongbu Line. There are also frequent train connections to Beijing, the frontier town of Dandong and Moscow.

Among the health centres are the Red Cross Clinic, the first people's clinic near Moran Hill that was the first in North Korea after the Korean emancipation in 1945,[78] the second people's clinic, the Ponghwa Recuperative Center (also known as the Bonghwa Clinic or Presidential Clinic) in Sokam-dong, Potonggang-guyok, 1.
