Egmont National Park's lush forests on the North Island of New Zealand contrast with the pastures outside the circular park boundaries. National Park Egmont The Egmont National Park includes the vast Taranaki Vulcano and features luxuriant falls, rain forests and boggy marshes. In lower areas you hike through high romu and kamayi forests; higher up on the vulcano there are subalpine bushes and herb fields above the border of snows. On the hillsides of the hill one finds luxuriant rain forests, which are due to the high precipitation and the gentle coast climatic conditions.

There are many hiking trails in this nature reserve, starting from a 15-minute hike along the Kamahi trail to the three-day Pouakai Circuit. Around Dawson Falls there is a true labyrinth of trails, which includes a hike to the Wilkies Swimming pools, a range of rocky ponds linked to soft waters.

On the end of the path, where the viewpoint is located, you will see the hill that rises above the marshland.

Launch the Potaema Trail from the Potaema Sanctuary on the Pembroke Road to your lefthand side. It is a well-tended, handicapped access path through varied forests. Dawson Falls Visitor Centre, located at the Manaia Road entry, is about 100 meters from the parking lot.

Continue on the Wilkies Pools Tracks past the turnoff to the Waingongoro Hut. This is where you will go back to the cycle later. On the way back we pass the Twin Falls and Bubbling Springs. You' re gonna get connected to the song you were on. The hike is also suitable for wheelchairs if you travel the same distance from Wilkies Pools.

Kapuni Loop Track follows the Kapuni River, which flows down an old stream of water to Dawson Falls. Begin this hike on the lefthand side of Mania Road just before Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge. Dawson Falls power plant is still powering Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge. Drive further into the woods and you will arrive at the top of Dawson Falls.

There is a short side path to the foot of the falls or you can stay on the path to get an overall overview of the falls on the way down. Then the path leads to the street. Go across the street and then drive on to the starting point.

The route begins and ends at the Egmont National Park Visitors Center, which can be reached from Egmont Road via State Highway 3. On the first section of the Poukakai Circuit, the route leads from the Visitors' Center to Holly Hut (2-3 hours). Continue along the well-formed path through the woods for fantastic vistas of the Waiwhakaiho and Kokwai Rivers canyons and the Ahukawakawa Wetlands.

In order to reach the Pouakai hut, turn to your right at the crossroads of the mango dairy. The route continues through gorges over the Waiwhakaiho River Swing Bridge. From the Kaiauai parking lot, you can take the Egmont Road to the Visitors Center. Or, take the Ram Trail up to the Visitors Center.

Here is your symbolic historical route of the NP. Walking the York Loop Tracks follows the old Egmont Branch railroad line constructed in 1901 to carry rocks from the mines. York Trail begins 100 meters from the York Road border of the York Parks. Go back to the front rail and walk to a glade, the foot station - the end of the line.

Back to the start point via the old residential street. It is your opportunity to explore the most famous attraction in Egmont National Park: A pick, crampon and climbing expertise are indispensable when there is snow on the top of the mountains - most likely in winters.

From the Egmont National Park Visitor Centre at the end of Egmont Road off State Highway 3, take the promenade past the Camphouse to Translator Road. Take your free days to explore the Tasman Sea and even the Tongariro National Park volcanos on a clear skies!

The route continues via the Around The Mountains Tracks into Hongi's Valley. There is a hard ascent waiting for the steps and a zig-zag path to a stream of water named The Lizard. That could be quite upsetting for those on their way down. From here you can see most of the sights on the hill and in the nature reserve.

Once you have congratulated yourself on your own dramatic rise, you are returning along the same path that is much quicker than the rise.
