When you' re about to make your first Hawaii journey, I'm sure you'll have your favorite destinations - sunny, seaside and relaxed - I mean, who wouldn't? Your spiritual picture of Hawaii (also known as the Big Iceland because it is the biggest of Hawaii's archipelago) is something like mine, then it's a paradisiacal paradise with a rainforest surrounded by colorful sandy shores where you can alternately hunt falls, sip drinks and try your hands on a typical Lau with a leip of blossoms and molluscs?

But there is so much more on this wonderful isle than you first imagine..... For our tour leader, browse down to the best things to do in Hawaii, where you can spend the night in Big Iceland and important information on how to get around the Big Iceland and when it's the best season.....

Big Iceland offers multi-coloured sands in 3 colours: there are sandy beach, whitewashed sandy beach and verdant sandy beach..... Find them all as you travel around the islands - or take a group trip to the islands and mix together sandy shores with cascades and volcanos and local cuisine to get an idea of the area?

It' one of the funniest things to do in Hawaii. This large islet is one of Hawaii's most vulcanic islands and is made up of five (!) seperate volcanoes: Kohala, Mauna Kea, Hual?lai, Mauna Loa and Kilauea - although Kilauea is the best known, as it has been bursting steadily since 1983 and is one of the most volcanos in the world!

Visit Halema?uma?u Crater to see the volcanic eruption - it's an amazing sight: hire a dusk trip for the best photographers! The second most popular of the volcanoes on the Great Island, Mauna Kea lies at 4,207 metres above sealevel, making its summit the highest point in the state of Hawaii.

At the top of Mauna Kea there are also several observation rooms, which are ideal for watching the stars. Since it is not possible to climb the peak on your own, there are several Summits & Stars Tours to help you make the most of the world. Star gazing is one of the best things in Hawaii!

When you rent a vehicle, the drive around Big Iceland offers you the most unbelievable view of the islandfields. Most of the Big Islands falls are in the north-east of the islands, between the Kohala Mountains and Hilo along the Hamuka coast. Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is a luxuriant protected area devoted to collecting and presenting the world's rainforest flora and to educating young people and grown-ups about the distress of the world's poor.

A visit to the garden is one of the best things to do in Hawaii. On Big Iceland there are 3 major stores - Keauhou, Kona & Hilo Farmers Market - and 4 smaller stores throughout the Isle. This is one of the best big islands to do. Big Iceland provides several hotsprings /springs and swimming pool on the eastern shore of the Puna archipelago and a great complement to your Big Iceland activity schedule.

Kona is known for its manta rays, which can be seen almost 365 nights a year (if the wheather allows it). In fact, you can do whale watching from Maui if you are considering expanding your Hawaii voyage to other islands! Like the Hawaiians, jump on a surfboard to enjoy a true island lifestyle with the originality of the aquatic activity.

I can' go to Hawaii and not see Luau. Enjoy an evenings of enjoy native dances and costume from all over Polynesia and a party with regional specialities and livecam. Waipo Valley is a must for Hawaii! In the Hamakua district in the north-east of the Great Island there are a number of long and long walking paths where all skills are required.

Here you can learn more about the walks - and if walking is not your thing, but you still want to enjoy the beauties of the valleys, why not take an ATV-trip? It is a enjoyable and natural paradise and gives you the chance to swim at the foot of Hiilawe Falls - one of Hawaii's highestfalls.

The Kailua Kona (West) - an excellent place to explore the west coast of the islands, among them world-class beach, historical and culture monuments and a large selection of stores and restaurant; it is also a good base for daily excursions to the valleys of Pololu and Waipio. The Hilo Area (East) - a great place to explore Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and if you want to reach the top of Mauna Kea, Hilo is the best place to begin your trip (along Saddle Road).

In addition, The Big Island has two marinas that often come and go, although tourists do not usually stay long on the island. Hiring a rental vehicle is the simplest way to explore the island yourself, and one of the best ways to make sure you make the most of your stay there.

You can pick up your car at both of them, but you have to be in mind that it is not possible to arrive with a car anywhere on the island - for example at the top of Mauna Kea (for stargazing) or at Green Sand Beach - as the landlords prohibit the use of a car on the highways.

When you don't want to ride on the right side of the street, Uber and Lyft have been operating on Big Island since March 2017, although there may be a driver deficit at busy worktimes. When you have a lot of free travel there is a third way to get around the Big Island - the Hel-on Bus - which is intended for locals to get around - takes you to most places, but there are long hours of passage, there are rare links and the vast majority of departures and arrivals are early in the mornings or at the end of the day.

Big Iceland remains stable all year round - usually in the high 70' or low 80', but the best travel period is between September and November, as the islands are not so well-frequented. The main tourist seasons are between December and March (due to the colder climates that Americans are trying to thaw) and hotel/accommodation rates are rising drastically during this period.
