Rotuma Island Giants

The Rotuma Island Giants

Then they discovered that one of the giants was a princess and regretted what they had done. Rotuma is one of the most beautiful, remote and untouched islands of the Pacific. Uea, the small island between two and three miles northwest of it. There once lived a race of giants here. Bible identifies the giants as the seed of the serpent, the descendants of Cain.

69: Pacific giants (2)

In the 1980s Terje Dahl was sailing and living in the Pacific. about the giants, many with six toe. Each island had the same kind of story. Archipelago people actually thought the legend was real. However, there was never any sign of high skeleton.......

One old chieftain Tei Tetua on Fatu Hiva recounted to him that his forefathers, white-skinned men who had come from a arid, warm land in the Orient. That was the beginning of the Heyerdahl theory of immigration in the Pacific. Numerous sculptures (tiki) show 6-fingered characters such as the Paul Gauguin Musuem in the Tahitian capitol Papeete.

It is similar to the Marquesas Islands sculpture. He is also about 2.50 meters high and has six paws. Later I learnt that it came from the island of Raivavae on the Austral Islands and that the men who were ordered to bring the sculpture to Tahiti were afraid that the God's ghost would hurt them (some are said to have died)!

In Samoa, on the outlying island of Sawaii, I saw the myth of a giants named Moso on the northwest shore of the island. It is said that a group of giants, the Hiti, had been living in Samoa before a great tide. I was shown the "footprints" of a giants in the shallows near the shore in the lagoon:

One and a half meters long and an early evangelist had placed a tree in the center of the foot print to make the humans leave their old unchristian faith behind. In the small external tunnel of Lae on the Marshall Islands I was informed of an old myth of a giant, empty wooden ram floating across the sea a long, long, long ago.

There were giants in it. The top hat floated on Lae inshore. The people of the island were very scared of them, but since the giants were vulnerable because they floated across the sea, the people of the village succeeded in killing them. There are some very interesting remains on the island of Pohnpei in Micronesia named Nan Madol.

This" old town made of stone" is located on almost 100 man-made islands with interspersed tide channels on the south-east side of the island. Giants' bone is said to have been found both within the remains and in the thick woods on the adjoining islet. It is said that Olisihpa and Olosohpa came from far across the sea and were much bigger than the indigenous people.

Her descendants with the native wives became the chieftains of the island, the saudeleur. She was very tall, about 3.5 metres long and 1.5 metres broad. People on the island were in agreement that it had to be the tomb of Tevalu (Te Valu). One very old story (told by my father-in-law and another old man on Nukulaelae) said that he was a colossus who used to live on this island.

He grabbed and killed kids who played on the shore and ate them. At first the people of the island wanted the archeologists to open the tomb, but then they change their minds: At Tongatapu in Tonga, the principal island, there is a large building of three boulders of calcareous corals.

It' about 5 metres high, almost 1.5 metres broad and almost 6 metres long. According to tradition, it was made by the half god Maui, because no common island dweller would be able to build and support a kind of door made of such a large stone. According to one of the oldest tales, the rocks come from the island of Valais, about 600 kilometres away, and Maui took them to Tonga in a huge outing.

Tonga's regal lineage was proud to descend from the huge deities, and they kept their lives by getting married within the lineage. They' still very big; Tupou IV, who passed away in 1996, was 2 metres high and his dam Queen Salote only ten centimetres short!

Most of the main South Pacific homes can be traced back to the giants and some have redheads, as the giants claim. Often very large, they also seem to look more like Europeans with brighter skins, even though they can track their homes back long before the discoverers arrive.

There are huge sculptures on Easter Island. Some of them had six digits. It' weird, because some of the similar-looking rock figures he photographed in San Augustin, Colombia, South America also had six digits! Now, I found it very odd that old rock figures should have six hands, and guesswork what I found; like many old sculptures all over the whole time!

There is a story on Easter Island that the first humans on the island came from the western part of the island across the sea, while another tells that they came from a warm and arid country in the south. You should be 7 to 8 foot high (2. 30 to 2. 60 meters) - survivor after a global disaster.

The first European to see and explore the island was Jacob Roggeveen, the discoverer of the Netherlands, on Easter Sunday 1722. There were three different groups of the island: dark-skinned, red-skinned and very pallorskinned persons with reddish hairs. In 1774, the English discoverer commander James Cook paid a trip to Easter Island, and his sailors described that some of the island's inhabitants were so big that they could run erect between their heels.

Easter Island because the secrets of the statue and legend might give an indication of who found these great men where, as far as I know, no big bone on the island, and just a few Caucasian-looking old motes. Patagonia is not the Pacific, but across Chile's small gulf, where Ferdinand Magellan had a very high level of racing in the 1520s.

Throughout the Pacific I had been hearing giants' legend and was amazed that the people of the island always said they were real histories, not myth. I didn't try to find out if the legend was real before I found out that so many old sculptures have six digits!

That the very often portrayed deities and that were also very large - what we can call giants! Where' s the bone? Well, the Pacific legend of giants can't be that old, can it? Where is the evidence - where are the giants' deaths?

Now, Rotuma is an island far off the major Fiji island far North, and during the Second World War observers are said to have exposed shinbones over a metre long, and other troops are said to have also found caverns with huge skulls. Today there are no longer any bone, but two giants' bone are said to have been kept for humans until they have forgotten the times.

One can see what is called tombs of giants that look like dolmens; made of large rocks. A number of ledgers say that huge bone was found in Nan Madol by Pohnpei, but no bone is exhibited. It is said that the incumbent Victor Berg opposed a king's prohibition in 1907, opened a grave of former sovereigns and found two to three meter high sceletons.

There are some very large and old tombs in Kiribati and Tuvalu after what is called giants, but the humans are scared and do not let anyone open them. Much of the pyramid-shaped structure and stagnant rocks that can be seen on Tahiti, Raiatea, Huahine and so many Pacific Isles are associated with giants' legends:

There were no corpses. There have been writings that some of those who lived less than three hundred years ago were very great, and it is a fact that the peoples in the family of these huge deities are still great today. However, the bone is gone. Has disaster ended the rule of the giants on planet earth?

Increasingly, archeologists are discovering that the places and events described in legend actually existed. He asked himself if we ourselves could be the guilty ones, as so many legend and religion say. This was a period when the deities wandered among men. Those deities were giants.

The one thing I believe is that all legend contains an item of fact.
