High snow-capped summits, dark green seas, primeval rainforests and the vast South Island plain formed the backdrop for many Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogy. After Christchurch, this route leads you along the southern Alps to Mt Cook National Park.

Journey south from the pulsating town of Auckland to the stunning mountain scenery and exciting Queenstown adventure. On the way you will be traveling through the interior of New Zealand, which includes the Rotorua culture mekkas and the quaint Wellington town centre on North Island. On the South Island, Kaikoura gives you the opportunity to encounter the animal world and lots of free rein to discover the inspirational town of Christchurch.

The two weeks trip completes the best of New Zealand in 13 eventful outings. Explore both the North and South Islands.
