TERRITORY " PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (August 2, 2002 - Samoa News) - Former Governor and distinguished area manager A.P. Lutali died at LBJ Medical Center early last night. Gubernatorial Lutali had 10 kids, 36 grandkids and 12 great-grandchildren. Josie Lutali, his daugther, said last night that her dad died "peacefully at 3:15 am, with our mom, Susana, kids and members of our family".

Later he was a member of the Senate from 1988 to 1992 and from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Lutali has been a member of several government-appointed bodies, among others as Vice President of the American Samoa Development Corporation. He was also a member of the judiciary, and from 1947 he was the first attorney (non-lawyer) to be registered before the High Court of American Samoa.
