Congratulations on your three-hundredth anniversary, Jonathan Swift. Recognized as a premier Satiric in the annals of the British tongue, Swift made his way into the wide open on November 30, 1667. Gulliver's Travels is Swift's most renowned work. It has fascinated both reader, author and artist since its publication in 1726.

However, many people's involvement with this amazing book is reflected in fantastic pictures of villainous little humans and confused behemoths. So, here is your guideline to everything Gulliver has to do. Gulliver will be remembered by most of our readership as a children's book, but the unabridged one is full of cruelty.

Gulliver accidentally drew inspiration from his descriptions of the treatment of the horse in England. There' s a particularly unpleasant scenery on the Lilliput trip where Gulliver is urinating on the Queen's house to put out a disastrous fire. As a matter of routine, this is contained in the children's issue, albeit in a hygienised state. Then there' s the part in one of Gulliver's last quests where our character has to fight off a very libidinal woman Yahoo who wants to rape him.

Gulliver has given the British tongue a number of remarkable words, not least Houyhnhnm (move your mouth like a pony when you say it). There is also Yahoo, an illiterate bully; brabdingnagian, that is to say giant, after the giant on the second journey; and lilliputistic, that is small, after the miniatures of the first journey.

He also liked word games. Swift, like any successfull satiric, had many foes. Britain's first premier, Robert Walpole, is replicated as a film nap who plays an equal part in their company as the grandiose Lord High Treasurer of Lilliput. The Duke of Marlborough or the Count of Nottingham is the source of his fellow government official Skyresh Bolgolam, the Lord High Admiral of Lilliput.

Throughout the book, other authorities are ridiculed. When Gulliver pisses on the castle, it is sometimes seen as a sign of the Treaty of Utrecht of 1713, which gave Gibraltar to the United Kingdom - and through which the Tories extinguished the fire of the Spanish War of Succession with very crude behaviour.

The Konnonzaki in Japan, just South of Tokyo, is a touristic pleasure. Besides breathtaking mountain and wonderful beach, it is said to be the place where Gulliver made his first foothold in Japan - representing as the harbour of Xamoschi. Every year in November, a Gulliver-Kannonzaki festival is held in the neighboring city of Yokosuka.

Yokosuka Naval Base US seamen disguise themselves as gullivers and roam the area. The first Godzilla film, the same as Gulliver, also takes the film to Kannonzaki, then to Tokyo. This book jokeily refers to the moon's appearance around Mars. When Phobos and Deimos were found by astrologers in 1872, the Swift Caldera on Deimos was renamed in honour of the Irishman.

Prior to the film's release, Gulliver performed in set adaptions, music remakes, visual cartoons - and on supporters, saucepans and various other knick-knacks. The groundbreaking and groundbreaking filmmaker Georges Méliès staged and acted in 1902 in the first adaption, the dramatic Le Voyage de Gulliver à Lilliput et Chez les Géants.

This movie shows an exuberant Richard Harris as Gulliver, but many other actresses have painted his portrait - among them Jack Black, Ted Danson and Vladimir Konstantinov. Atwood' s adventurous novel Oryx and Crake uses a quote from Swift for an epigram. And Atwood has an important article on the crazy scientist portrayed on Gulliver's third journey.

Nevertheless, numerous second writers take Gulliver on trips, usually beyond the globe, which Swift has made for him, but sometimes back to where it all began. One of the first were the anonymous memoirs of the court of Lilliput, which were released less than a year after Gulliver's first inauguration.

Recently a 1965 animation movie brought an older Gulliver to the lunar with a new team of a young man, a crows, a dog and a speaking child soldiers. He had an eventful life after death. Conversation was the original publication of this paper.
