Alloha Cruise - Pride of America Review

The cruise has a slightly different feeling than most caribean cruise mainly because you have two night harbours and are spending more harbor phone callers. The NCL cruise will take two nights in Maui and Kauai on each of the four large Hawaii islands. If it is your first trip to Hawaii or if you have been there many often, you can experience this cruise.

The cruise took place from 1 to 8 January and had a good mixture of different passenger sizes from 21 to 50. It depends on the season you're going on the cruise. Cruise Director said that on the last cruise (Christmas-New Year) there were over 700 people under 18 years and we were only about 120 under 18 years old.

Our cruise was full and the boat had a cruising volume of about 2400 passengers. So we went to Oahu the pre-cruise flight and remained in Waikiki. There is a cab fare from the Waikiki International to Waikiki for about $40. When you travel directly from the Aiport to the cruise liner, the cab fare is about $25.

Before we boarded, we did a 5-hour trip from our motel to Hanauma Bay. Situated about 20 min from Waikiki, Hanauma Bay is one of the best snorkeling spots in Hawaii. So we took a cab from Waikiki to the boat and boarded at 4:30.

Vessel disembarked about 8:00 p.m. In the high season, I think it's about noontime. Within a few mins after getting on the boat we had the life boat exercise and then there was a brief hero show and a land outing. We' ve decided to have a bar scrawl on the boat instead of a land outing.

All this in the first 3 hrs after check-in and we haven't even exited the harbour yet. Vessel: Approximately 2400 passenger capacity, the vessel was full but never overcrowded for our cruise. Meals: NCL has Free Style dinning, which was beautiful during the overnight sojourns. There was no need to hurry back to the boat for supper.

A number of screens around the boat showed the seating capacities of the restaurants, a good way to minimise waiting times. Supper was the default cruise with lobsters in one evening. You also had all the usual cruise activities such as tastings, swimming pools, bingos, etc. The Port of Calls:

As I will be choosing the cruise according to the route of the harbour, I will be spending more of my leisure activities on this section. I' ve made no land trips, but there was a wide choice. Hire a bus from the cruise ship and take you to the hire company at the AĆ©roport.

On all other isles you can see cetaceans during this period, but near Maui and Lanai they seem to be very docile. Night parkings near the boat are restricted. Because of a deadly crash we got into a big congestion and almost lost the boat's sailing sickness.

Ensure that you have a little more to return to the boat if there is poor circulation. At about 6 pm we leave the harbour with the intention to cruise through the volcanic national park area. We' ve seen some pictures of past cruise ships and it looks amazing. Kona was the only harbour we put out to tender and unfortunately the sea was too big for everyone to go onshore.

While most of those with land trips have gone on land for their trips, NCL has limited those without land trips to land. So we made the most of the experience and went around the swimming pools and enjoying a few pails of beers while we watched cetaceans playing on the cruise liner. The majority of those who made the trips on the waterside were frustrated by the high waves.

Again the rental companies had a shuttles at the harbour. It is located near a beautiful sandy beaches and some stores. Near the cruise liner there is a private pay-place ('20). On the next morning I went up to the north bank to see the Hanalei area, the Hanalei area and the Na Pali area.

You can also enjoy some funny kayak and adventurous trips ashore. On the last cruise today we reached our destination at 7 o'clock in the morning. You have the possibility to get off the boat at any time from 7:30 to 10:30 am and wear your own portmaniac. They were off the boat at 10 in the morning.

In Waikiki, some of the cars are picked up at the harbour, but are usually more costly. Others favorite excursions include the USS Arizona, Pearl Harbor and Polynesian Culture Village, Diamond Head Walking and the lovely sandy beach near Kailua. At Waikiki, take a windsurfing class or horseback riding an out-rager or go to Mai Tai in Dukes or go shopping or sunbathing or take a sailing trip at sundown or do it all.

Merry cross!
