Submerged quarries are an important wetlands that attract a large number of birdlife. It is particularly important for its wetlands, from open waters to the reeds. Shingles and grassy areas offer a haven for migratory and migratory wading birding.
Reeds at the pool borders and in the old silty flagon are home to a variety of plant varieties, and grasslands and moors of ducks offer plenty of food for many plant varieties and nesting for other. The reserve is full of birds all year round. The curlews collect on the moist grasslands in early springs before heading northwards to their nesting area.
Up to 20 wading bird types occur in early and late fall. Bird breeding in Willington includes Sand Martin, Lapwing and Terns. The reserve is also visited by raptors, including falcons, kestrels, hobbyists, sparrowhawks and occasionally the Western Montagu's Harrier. During the last winter, the Eurasian bittern was seen in the reserve.
As well as migrating to Willington' s wetland, there are several types of dragonflies, virgins and otter. They are suitable for aquatic vegetation such as short-leaved aquatic comfrey.

WILTINGTON is a city and municipality in the Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, UK. Though part of the preceding circular section, which owned the entire stone pit, was lined with crushed combustible rubble carried by a pipe from the plant, the remainder of the quarries on the city' s southerly outskirts, which adjoin the Trent waterway, have now become a wetlands supervised by the Derbyshire Untamed Trust and established with the leader of the organization, Derbyshire World.
