How does it feel to live in Guam?

In 1966, at the age of 10, I settled in Guam and in 1973, just before I was 18, I was born. First thing I recall was getting off the airplane at the airfield, which was sharing with the Naval Air Stationm, and the thought that I had to try to breath under water.

In the course of my life my passion for Guam and Clultur has grown and I have made many good people. It was great to be so near the shore. On the last outing before Christmas, we all, the whole family, went to Ipao Bay to Tumon Bay for a summer club!

Picture December on a beautiful sandy spot! It was a great night for my father's work, back at the sand where Santa Claus came in a pair of short jeeps! I would do one of the things I would do was go with the deliverers who took the vending machine to partys.

Chamorros enjoy their celebrations! We had birthday celebrations, weddings, patrons, jubilees, retirements, burials and celebrations! I had junior high at George Washington Jr High and Agat Jr High. GREAT I visited HS at George Washingto Sr High, again, GREAT times. It has a very wealthy civilization, influenced by indigenous islands and the Spaniards who ruled the country for so many years, and areas such as the Philippines and Japan.

Before all 5 stars properties and resort were constructed, I recall Tumon Bay. In 1970 I also recall that I went to Japan and was prompted to go to Guam by the Tokyo itineraries! After receiving my SCUBA certificate in Guam, I liked to go diving on the shore.

There was no need for a wetsuit because the waters were clear and hot. It was always the same, hot and sunshiny. We remember a year in high schools during the rain period, it came in the 70' (weird for Guam) and we thought we were freezing.

We' d shut all the chemistry room doors, set all the Bunsun burners on fire and went to the back of the room to help us keep hot. And I used to love exploring the jungle and the hillocks. We' ve been camping at the Tannk Traps the whole while. It was more of a walk back then, so we weren't there that often.

At Gun Beach at the northern end of Tumon Bay, right under Lover's Leap. I' d like to see things change.
