In the Leeward Group of the Society Isles of Polynesia, Bora Bora is an insular region mainly depending on the tourist industry. Some of the most popular destinations are located on small islets around the Laguna. The Bora Bora Hotel constructed the first above-water bungalow on pontoons over the lake thirty years ago, and today above-water bungalow are part of the standards of most Bora Bora SPAs.
The Bora Bora Laguna is the most valuable attraction and offers the traveller many possibilities to enjoy it in different ways: wind surfing, jet skiing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, wind surfing, water skiing, jet boarding, kite surfing. So where in the world is it?
So, are you prepared to schedule your journey after seeing all these great pictures and the first thing you're probably wondering is where Bora Bora Bora Bora is? I will give you a little introduction to the fundamentals of Bora Bora Bora, because I like to think that you have to study a little in a new world!
From Vava'u to Pora Pora and eventually to Bora Bora, the name of the name of the isle developed because Captain Cook, as one of the first people to visit the isle, could not tell the quiet "p" tones and instead could hear a "b". This means "first born", as the legend describes, that after the foundation of Havai'i, today known as Raiatea, this isle was the first to be caught from the waters by the highest god Daoara.
I' m not really sure how the Isle gets "first born" when there was another Isle from which it was fished first, but....hey, I just tell what I was said. The Bora Bora is one of the 118 Tahitian Isles, more precisely Polynesia.
These are many nice, magic isles! At first I was very puzzled when I said Tahiti, because Tahiti itself is also an isle. Tahiti can also be used for the entire Franco-Polynese archipelago, perhaps because it is the most populated with almost 70% of the country's people.
Like Hawaii is used to describe all the isles in its arcipelago AND a single isle. In French Polynesia there are 5 archipels (small collection of islands) to be even more precise. The Bora Bora, along with Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Huahine, Maupiti and Taha'a, are part of the most renowned of the Society Isles.
Bora Bora is only a small islet ('18 mile long') encircled by the most gorgeous of lagoons, sheltered by another chain of islands or moto' that surrounds the area. However, I think that the flora is part of what distinguishes Bora Bora from the Maldives.
