Weathered range of weathered sensor types

The London Festival of Modern Art 2015: Kneip, the leading designer in Norway, has designed a series of four multifunctional statues that show and tell the story of the day's rain. Using conventional and scientific instruments, the Weathered specimens are used to determine various atmospherical parameters such as winds, moisture and sediment. Every sculpture that combines wood and steel uses a kind of motion in reaction to its environmental condition.

"The weather has always fascinated us. The amount of humidity in the ambient atmosphere causes the horse's hair to expand or contract in a subtle way. This seismoscope uses a sculpture made of a round plate of cooper and a hung pen made of bronze that is mounted in an oaken framework to measure the movement of the seism. As a reaction to the earthquake, the trailer is moving against the panels, and leaves traces on the engraving as a recording.

Dr. Swell tells about the motion of waves in space or sea with the help of a couple of wood barrels covered by cupric bands holding a horizonal bar with a gravel at one end. They swing back and forth in reaction to the motion around. This sculpture is made up of three wood supports that support shallow oxidized brass bands and bands that are connected by bars and move to indicate the prevailing winds.

Every metallic circuit shows different patina-pattern. "It was our wish that the surface should relate to a surface treatment where, over the course of the years, the natural world takes over and returns to zero." In Pat. vol. 1, the couple had already been experimenting with the decomposition of material physically, in which they also showed statues with oxidized orbitals.

"It is a rather conceptional product in the way that the projects relate to natural and meteorological phenomena," says the agency. They will be shown as part of the 100% Norway exhibit at this year's London Design Festival, which will take place at the Truman Brewery from 24 to 27 September 2015.
