Waterfall Molokai Hawaii
Molokai Hawaii WaterfallPopalaua Cases
The Papalaua Falls is an imposing 1200ft waterfall (although I have seen it is 1700ft) located on the precipitous and precipitous northern bank of Molokai. I was on two different flights over a period of four years visiting this special waterfall. And, of course, it doesn't feel painful that it is just a breath-taking and stunning waterfall.
It is certainly one of my favourites on all of Hawaiian islands. We had some bad information and I saw this up close when our last chopper trip over West Maui and Molokai immortalised wrong allegations that these were the Kahiwa Falls. While I knew this was not accurate, using the topographic map, I must wonder how many other unfounded allegations were swimming around out there, as few could test these allegations with a mix of fields and charts; especially considering how isolated the northern bank of Molokai is.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, and this is pretty much what is a heli-waterfall unless you are one of what is few folk who can to this part of Moloka'i vessel. Even if you go on a flight by airplane, it is not certain that you will see all the great falls (including this one) on such a itinerary.
As you can see, the catch-22 is that November to March is the rainy period when the waters flow the most, but it is also when there is a tendency for cloud to cause changes in the chopper route and to avoid overflying of the best falls (not to speak of turbulences and abrupt rains, which add further complications). There' s also the good fortune of the lottery when it comes to chopper chairs - front seat is best suited for waterfall views, but go to the passenger with the lightest weight (see this paper we have written on helicopters).
From Maui, this is mainly seen from West Maui and Molokai Helicopter Tours. To find out more about our routes with this waterfall, visit the following sites.
