Equatorial islets are a group of eleven atlls and low depth reefs located in the Pacific Ocean in the southern part of Hawaii. The majority of the island and plains are in Kiribati, while three (Palmyra Atoll, Kingman Reef and Jarvis Island) are in the United States. Cruising Guide content:

This group of liner isles should be regarded as hazardous to shipping as the isles are low, shallow and flanked by powerful, varying flows. The Kingman Reef therefore experience an E-Set, while the Palmyra Atoll kits are powerful and multi-task. When, within 200 miles of Kiritimati, the stream was reported to have rate of 2. 5 to 3 knots.

Near Malden Island and Starbuck Islans is the general theorem C, but also E-phrases have been witnessed. Lines of the Republic of Kiribati are in a timezone with the oldest period in the world: Daytime is the same as in Hawaii, but one full working hour ahead; and even 26 hrs ahead of some other Oceania isles.

Kiribati, formally the Republic of Kiribati, is an insular state in the Pacific Ocean. Comprising 32 atols and an elevated islet of corals spread over 3,500,000 sq km (1,351,000 sq miles), it spans the balance and borders the International Date Line to the east. The English is one of the offical languages of the archipelago and is often used.

The Kiribati Iceland Groups: There are three archipelagos that have no administration, one of them is a group that brings together the Line and the Phoenix Archipelago (Ministry in London, Christmas). Every populated isle has its own advice (3 advice in Tarawa: Betio, South-Tarawa, North-Tarawa; 2 advice in Tabiteuea). Among the archipelagoes are:

Visa can also be obtained by letter to the Principal Immigration Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, P.O. Box 68, Bairiki, Tarawa, KIRIBATI (Central Pacific). Most of the Outlands have no runway, so any kind of emergency is long and hard. The Kingman Reef is a largely secluded, inhabited subtropical tunnel in the North Pacific, about halfway between Hawaiian Islands and American Samoa.

This is the most northerly of the Northern Line Islands and is located 65 km NNW from Palmyra Atoll, the nearest isle. The Kingman Reef is an uncorporated U.S. jurisdiction managed from Washington, DC by the U.S. Navy. The Kingman Reef is about 920 sea-mile (.700 km) southward of Honolulu.

There are no uninhabitated areas and no support for commercial activities. The Kingman reef (6°25'N., 162°26'W.) is about 33 NNW from Palmyra Atoll. It is a triangle with its top towards the N. The coastline is about 9 nautical mile long E-W and 5 nautical mile long.

They spotted the outcrop at seven leagues. Teraina Iceland (Washington) (4°43'N., 160°24'W.) is about 120 nautical mile SE of the Palmyra Atoll. It is about 3m high and covers a lush vegetation of coconuts and other saplings. It' reportedly at 14 mile.

It stretches about 0.5 miles from the eastern part of the islands and for some time from the N side. There are two outcrops at the end of the wall, 0.3 to 0.4 miles off the coast. In front of the W side of the isle, a bench that is slowly hollowing out, has lows of 18.

Three to 26m, two. Three leagues off the coast. Since Teraina Island is close to the S-edge of the equatorial countercurrent, large fluctuations in the intensity and orientation of the off-shore flows are to be anticipated. The Palmyra Atoll is in private hands. The Palmyra Atoll is situated in the northern Pacific at 5°53'N, 162°5'W. From a geographical point of view, Palmyra is one of the Northern Line Islands (southeast of Kingman Reef and the Kiribati Line Islands), which is almost southern of the Hawaii Islands, about half way between Hawaii and Am. Samoa.

It' located about 120 leagues northeast of Washington lsland, 200 leagues northeast of Fanning lsland, 33 leagues southeast of Kingman reef and 960 leagues southwest of Honolulu. They are only 5 or 6 ft above sealevel, but the thick green cover climbs to a depth of 75 to 90 ft and makes the islands viewable from the boat when it is clear.

All the islands of the Atlantis are linked, except Sand Iceland in the west and Barren Iceland in the east. Cooper Iceland is the biggest of the islands in the north, followed by Kaula Iceland in the south. North of the islands consists of Strawn Iceland, Cooper Iceland, Aviation Iceland, Quail Iceland, Whippoorwill Iceland, followed in the east by Eastern Iceland, Papala Iceland and Pelican Iceland and in the south by Bird Iceland, Holei Iceland, Engineer Iceland, Tananger Iceland, Marine Iceland, Kaula Iceland, Paradise Iceland and Home Isl.

Palmyra's 9 mile (.5km) coast has an anchoring site known as West Lagoon. ON PALMYRA: Palmyra in Palmyra Island (5°53'N., 162°05'W.) is an island made up of many small islands that lie on a barriere coral that includes three different lakes. Palmyra is 5 nautical mile long E-W, and 2 nautical mile at its largest part.

Shoual waters stretches 1.8 nautical mile from the SE end of the riff and the same range from the NW and SW end. They are low, about 1.8 metres high and cover with 30 metres high mature tree cover of coconuts and other coconuts. They are 12 to 15 mile high. Wind andather in Palmyra: The Palmyra Atoll has unfavourable meteorological conditions and is the only place in the world where the wind blows.

There is a rainforest front floating near the islands due to the confluence of the Northeast Trades and Southeast Trades. At the Palmyra tunnel the tides are about 0.6m at MHHW and 0.0m at MLW. Be careful when you approach the SW tunnel, as there have been reports of hazardous rifts 5 mile SW from the tunnel.

There is a flow setting NW over the inlet canal and is particularly powerful SW of Sandy Iceland. An excavated canal leading through the SW side of the isle is the only door. It should be 22m from the W and anchors on the shore, in 22m, with the NW end of the isle at 071°, 2. 5 mile away, or further in, in 14.

6m, sandy and coralline, with the same point on the same bearings 2 mile. There is an explosives depot with its centre about 15 nautical mile from Palmyra. Teraina, also known as Washington Island and formerly Prospect Island and New York Island, is a Pacific Ocean island that belongs to Kiribati.

It has an area of 7.8 km (3 mi²), and the total area of the islands in 1990 was 936 (more than 1,000 in 2000). On the west end of the isle is the capitol Tangkore (Tengkore). Tabuaeran, also known as Travelling Iceland or Travelling Toll ('Gilbertese' and'Fanning Atoll' are both recognised) is one of the liner islands of the Pacific Ocean and part of Kiribati.

Targuaeran has a resident populace of 2500, mainly settler colonists from Kiribati transported by the company named Firing Iceland Plantations, Ltd. Its most important export goods are coppra and handicrafts (e.g. cauri shells, shark's teeth knifes and Kiribati stamps). Atolls' isles are densely populated with coco palms, 18th century. from 3 to 27m high, can be seen at a range of about 15 mph. It is a cliffy coastline with a 200m line about 0.5mph off the coast on the north and south sides of the canal. Kiritimati, also known as Christmas Island, is an island of the Pacific Ocean on the North Line and part of the Republic of Kiribati.

It has the largest surface of all reefs on earth: 642km2. More than 70% of the country's territory is covered by Kiribati, a country comprising 33 Pacific atlls. Beside the isle there are several smaller ones. It has a population of 47 acre and a large sea bird population.

Others are Motu Upua (47 acres), Ngaontetaake (67 acres) and Motu Tabu (8. 6 acres). BROTHROUGH THE US Government ABOUT KIRITIMATI ISLAND: Kiritimati Island (1°52'N., 157°22'W.) is about 27 nW and 16 mW. There is a coastline that stretches from the middle of the tunnel towards SE and is about 4 nautical mile in width; this part is low bush country with coastal saplings.

It is about 12m high in the NW part, where there are bush and palm tree species over a radius of 12m. Bridge Point is a good symbol, as are the wireless towers, which are 0.2 nautical and 4 nautical mile from them. There is a fuel depot near the lights while a large sleigh is 7mE of them.

For landing on the small islets S of London you have to contact the supervisor. There is a very powerful W-flow at the SE end of the platform. Good anchoring, in 33m, rough sandy, with Bridges Point Lights texture at 110°, 0.5 miles distance. anchoring can be found anywhere W or NW of the bridge point; however, anchoring SW of light should be Avoid, as deserted anchors are about 0. 5 miles SW of it.

Fish Aggregating Devices (FADS) were positioned approximately 2.8 mile W and 3 mile NW from North West Point. Saumriff near South West Point will extend W. Villages to Kiritimati (Christmas Island): The Jarvis Islands (also known as Bunker Island) is an uninhabitated 4.5 sq km large South Pacific Sea bunker at 0°22'S 160°01'W about half way between Hawaii and the Cook Islands.

This is an uncorporated area of the United States, managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service of the United States Department of the Interior as part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the United States Department of the Interior have operated Jarvis Island as a National Wildlife Refuge since 1974 and the island can only be visited with a specific permission, but normally only explorers and similar people receive a permission.

It is also known that ham radios have entry to Jarvis Iceland. There' s a jetty in the centre of the west coast near a brittle daylight light and another near the south-west edge of the isle. It is centred on a dry lake in which deeper Guanov formations were later accumulated, which were extracted for about 20 years in the nineteenth cent.

It has a dry arid environment with high daytime temperature, steady winds and intense sunshine. This deep situated islet of corals has long been known by small vessels as difficult to see and is enclosed by a small hemline. Just 25 leagues southward of the Ecuador, Jarvis has no freshwater lenses and little rain.

There' s no proof that the isle has ever helped a self-sustaining people. ABOVE JARVIS ISLAND: Jarvis lsland (0°23'S., 160°01'W.), an islet of corals and sands, lies about 202 nautical miles south of Kiritimati Atoll. It is 1.8 nautical leagues in either W or H directions and about 1 metre high.

There is a small fringe that is dry in places and has crushers along the S-bank. There is a swarm, with a little known deep of 4. 6m, which is about 0. 6 miles from the north-east. The Jarvis Islands is a US property and a National Wildlife Refuge.

This higher floor area is at the end of the wall of the isle. Even though deep bushes occupy most of the entire length of the isle, they were seen without significant growth. At Jarvis Iceland has been according to falsehood 1 linear unit NE (1991), 1. 6 linear unit U (1992) and 1. 3 linear unit ENE (1996) of its planned occupation.

In the 19th c. Malden Iceland, also known as Independence Iceland, is a low, dry, inhabited islet in the middle Pacific Ocean, about 39 km (15 sqm) in size. This is one of the Line Islands of the Republic of Kiribati. It is characterised above all by its "mysterious" pre-historic remains (of Polyynesian origin), its once large phosphate guanos (which were explored by Australia around 1860-1927), its use as a site for the first UK H-bomb test (Operation Grapple, 1957) and its importance as a sanctuary for the seabird population.

above paint island: isle Malden Iceland (4°03'S., 155°00'W.) is triangle, of reef formations, and is situated 375 nautical mile SE from Jarvis Iceland. It is a nature reserve under the government of Kiribati. It is about 5 mile long and 4 nautical mile broad at its electric end, with the peak to the W. It is about 9m high and can be seen for about 15 mile.

The island is steep-to, with cliffs that extend from all its ends for ranges of 0.2 to 0.3 miles. Malden Island to Starbuck Island are usually 1 node current, but can be as high as 2 to 2.5kts. Approximately 0.2 miles WNW of a stand warning light located near the airstrip is available at a 28m deep from the W side.

The Filippo Ref is a sunken sea mountain lying above the shore in flat waters 450 km eastward of Starbuck Island on the Line Islands. The Filippo Ref (5°31'S., 151°47'W.) should be about 1 nW-SE and less wide. Crushers were according (1926) to person been seen active 30 linear unit SW by Filippo Reef; a mark of interrupter active 68m in section were according (1944) active 80 linear unit SE by Filippo Reef. No. of interrupters was known.

Ships are recommended to consider the force, speed and irregular direction of the currents near the Filippo Reef; they can place ships up to 50 nautical mile away from the course within 24 hours. The Starbuck Island, also known as Volunteer Island, is an inhabited reef island in the Pacific Ocean, part of the Kiribati part of the Common Line Islands.

Earlier titles were Barren Iceland, Coral Queen Iceland, Hero Iceland, Low Iceland, Starve Iceland or Volunteer Isl. At 5°37'S 155°56'W, the size of the isle is 8. Due to its low altitude (at its highest point the islet climbs to about 5 meters) there are perilous cliffs in the area, a number of vessels were destroyed in the lat 1800' s on Starbuck Iceland, among them the popular Euryale Transportation in France on March 10, 1870.

The United Nations declared Starbuck Island a sanctuary and is home to a settlement of Sooty Tern. The Caroline Island, or Caroline Atoll (also known as Millennium Island), is the most eastern of the U.S. Coastal Atoll, which includes the South Lineage Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Caroline was first spotted by Europeans in 1606, invaded by the United Kingdom in 1868 and has belonged to the Republic of Kiribati since the Republic of Kiribati became independent in 1979.

It is a flat laguna, about 6 km by 0.5 km (3.5 by 0.3 miles), with a maximum of 5-7 meters (15-25 ft) deep, and is often traversed by small dead corals and spotted herds. Caroline Island has no stagnant freshwaters, although the Nake and South Islands contain subterranean sweetwaters ( "Ghyben-Herzberg-Lentils") and wells were constructed to provide potable mineral waters for transient settlement.

The Caroline is similarly impoverished, predominated by pebbles and sands, with significant amounts of organics that are only found in sturdy, wooded islets. Guano-bearing sediments make nitrogenous ground on islands where it is present, but even in the oldest and most heavily overgrown areas of the tunnel, the ground is only a few centimetres thick.

Just like the remainder of Kiribati, Caribbean Islands enjoy a warm and moist sea-breeze. It is located in a rainfall variability area, but is expected to produce an annual rainfall of 1500 mm (60 in) on averages. The tide is in the order of 0.5 meters (1.5 ft) and the north east wind, usually from the north-east, causes the edge of the islands to experience the harshest oceans.

The Caroline Island is one of the most isolated island in the world - 230 km from the next country on Flint Island, 1500 km from the next settled area on Kiritimati, 4200 km from the Kiribati capitol Tarawa and 5100 km from the next mainland in North America.

In spite of more than three hundred years of casual anthropogenic influences on Caroline, it is one of the few remained "almost untouched tropic islands" and is regarded as one of the most untouched antolls of the Pacific. The Caroline Island is an important nesting site for a number of seabird populations, in particular the Sooty Tern (Onychoprion fuscata) with around 500,000 - a settlement of Sooty Tern dominating the east isles - and the Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor) with over 10,000 speciation.

The Caroline Island and its neighbour, Flint Island, also have some of the world's biggest population of the Common Nutlobster. Chelonia Mountain, the threatened species of Chelonia tortoise, also lives on the shores of Caroline Island. ABOVE CAROLINE ISLAND: Caroline Island (9°57'S., 150°13'W.) is an island with several small, low islands 4.6 to 6.1m high.

It is about 5.5 n-S and about 1.4 nautical mile at the S- or broadest end of the barriere is. At the S -end of the S-island, it is said to stretch over 1 mil S and then further to SW and SE; it should not be flown to at nocturnal.

Fractured waters are said to stretch almost 2 nautical mile of the isle. Wostok Iceland (10°06'S., 152°25'V.), a thickly woody tree growing to a maximum altitude of 24m, is about triangle and about 0.4 northeastbound. There is a submerged coral cliff about 0.3 nm from the north end of the shore and about 0.2 nm from the SW end and 0.3 nm from the SE end.

Near the coast, on the other side of the isle, the stream N. The vortices on the leeward side of the isle are variable according to the speed of the mains. An exploration of 55m (1927) was obtained about 0.5 miles NW from the N end of the isle.

1985 it was announced that the isle 4. eight mile to ENE of its whereabouts. Also known as Staver Iceland, Vostok Iceland is an inhabited reef of corals in the Pacific Ocean, part of the Kiribati Lineage Islands. Some of the other places on the islands were Anne Iceland, Bostock Iceland, Leavitts Iceland, Reaper Iceland, Staver Iceland, Vostock Iceland, Wostock Iceland or Vostok Isl.

The first sighting in 1820 by the discoverer Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen, who gave the name to the archipelago after his boat ("Vostok" means "east" in Russian). Just 1.5 km long (0.24 km²) and about a triangle, it stands at an altitude of about 5 metres above the surface of the ocean, with a thicket of Pisonia bushes that cover the centre of the isle.

The island of Vostok is preserved as a nature reserve of the island of Vostok and protects important sea bird populations such as the Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), the Great Frigate Bird (Fregata minor), the Small Frigate Bird (F. ariel), the Black Noddy (Anous minutus) and the White Ternsbill (Gygis alba). The Flint Island is an unpopulated Southern Line Islands part of Kiribati.

Surrounding the isle is a small fringe and hard to reach without a shelter. Flint-Iceland is situated about 740 kilometres to the north-west of Tahiti, 190 kilometres south-east of Vostok and 220 kilometres south-west of Caroline Isl. There is a surface of 1 mi² (3 km²).

ABOVE FLINT ISLAND: Flint Iceland (11°26'S., 151°48'W.) is about 90 ninety leagues S from Vostok Isl. It' about 2. 5 nautical mile in an NNW-SSE sense and about 0. 5 acres. It is thickly forested with 15.2 metres high vegetation. Flint Isle is encircled by a sheer, fringe wall of corals that is drying at LW and extending about 0. 6 n end of the Isle, rupturing for about 0. 2 nautical aile from the shoreline and ending in a thick tidal sear.

It stretches about 0.4 miles from the S end of the peninsula and drops off for 0.1 miles.
