Wallis and Futuna Islands
Valais and Futuna Islandss/ and /fu??tu?n?/;French: Valais et Futuna or Territoire des Alles Wallis et Futuna, Fakauvea and Fakafutuna: The Uvea mo Futuna), is a small community of islands in the South Pacific between Tuvalu in the NW, Rotuma of Fiji in the WW, the major part of Fiji in the SW, Tonga in the SW, Samoa in the SE, the New Zealand area of Tokelau in the NE and a farther northern part of the Phoenix Islands (Kiribati).
Valais and Futuna are not part of and not adjacent to Polynesia because they are on the opposite end of it. It consists of three large mountain volcanoes and a few small isles and is divided into two groups of archipelagos about 260 km apart, the Wallis Isles (Uvea) in the north-east and the Hoorn Isles (also known as Futuna Islands) in the south-west, which include the actual Futuna and the mostly unpopulated Alofi Isle.
Wallis and Futuna have been a community of France since 2003 (collectivité d'outre-mer, COM). From 1961 to 2003 it had the designation of territorial France (territoire d'outre-mer, or TOM), although its legal name did not evolve when its designation evolved. Below you can discover some of Valais' favourite songs, video and photographs.
