Waiheke Island Food and Wine Tour 2018

Reaching the shuttle from Auckland' s main road 2 was simple enough. It was only a brief stroll from our Airbnb near Britomart. If you do not live on Waiheke Island, I would suggest that you buy return ticket for the boat from here, so that you do not have to get them from the Matiatia Wharf on Waiheke Island offices, it seems more comfortable this way.

It was a great trip because the wheather was so good that the ship didn't swing too much, which is great for someone like me who has no feet. I' took something for it before the trip, just in case. For us the trip began the moment we leave the jetty in Auckland, as the view of Auckland and the approach to Waiheke Island was fantastic.

When we left the Matiatia Wharf boat, our travel leader, Simon, and a very lovely Italian pair who were part of our trip, bringing the number of groups to 5, which was quite cute. He was very professionally and kindly with a lot of humour.

When we were moving around, he pointed out the sights, the island's past and interesting facts. Between the individual wineries and points of the route he paused in places of great natural beauty to relax and take some pictures and just have some fun.

The first stop on our trip was the Olivenölfarm, a very interesting event and we tried the best extra virgin olives I have ever had. It was very refreshing and tasteful. We had a great meal, there was more than enough to walk around, very delicious and very nice companionship the Italian team.

And we went there with complete satisfaction. As we were leaving, Simon let us know that he could leave us anywhere between there and the shipyard if we were interested, and gave us instructions on how to get around, take a coach or a taxi to get us where we need to go. He was more than ready, and before he departed, he made sure twice that we knew how to get back to the quay.

I' d strongly advise this trip to anyone interested. Of all the other comments I've seen, all your travel leaders are great, but I think Simon is the best.
