A in A Nutshell: -Wow, Vieques is the way of island to get away! You can arrive by boat or by air. We also hire a roller ($55 for 24 hours) to discover the island. You will see an abundance of ferocious animals running free all over the island. There are many relaxing beach areas (Blue Beach, Red Beach, Green Beach and Black Sand Beach).

This is a place you should see at least once, especially if you are in Puerto Rico. Our best part of our journey to Puerto Rico was visiting this small island. I' ve been on both the Atalantian and the Pacifical side of the sea. Don't dwell near the city centre, where most travellers spend the nights (it's even harder to meet a lot of drunken kids at the school at night).

12,000 inhabitants with full passenger capacities on the shuttle. The Vieques is very large, distance can be a daunting task if you are on foot or by bike, but astonishing for the expert. Underestimated island of Puerto Rico! It was unfortunate that we had a few guys left on the Culebra line when the ticket was out of stock, so we hopped into the Vieques line to get a couple of boat passes instead.

As we arrived there, we just asked for a cab ride to a shore and were agreeably amazed by the beaches/culture! I' m in Iove with Puerto Rico. Vieques, definitely the island of Vieques. Be it the lovely sandy whitewashed shores, the somnolent cold of living here, or the sense of "undiscovery" here, it's no wonder how this island stimulates it.

You can reach this small island by boat (from Fajardo) or by airplane from San Juan. By driving to Fajardo and the untrustworthy name of the boat, the risk clearly outweighs the small cost-saving. That island is a leap into the past. It compensates for the relaxing that it experiences in droves......together with killing fires.

Yes, you have to pull the plug to have a real Vieques-feeling. Many Iceland is our favourite holiday destination. We stayed 4 nights on the island in 2013 and came back for 6 more in 2014. W is probably the best place to be on the island. You' ll need to hire a car, you' ll need a card and you' ll have to discover the island.

It is very rural and underdeveloped. You will not have a favourite, they are all favourites. Vieques inhabitants are kind and inviting. And where do I begin? The Beaches are Majestic, truly a pristine island, I;ve been to hahawaii and I honestly think Viequez is better, in the direction that its not severely commercialised.

Anyway, check out La Chave Beech. This is a beautiful, calm, relaxed island off the east coastline of Puerto Rico. The smaller and even more relaxed island of Culebra is close by. Got to go to Bioluminescent Cove. Fortunately Vieques is still a relatively unfamiliar jewel. Vieques... what do I say? I' ve been many a time to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and the great island of Puerto Rico, all have their virtue, but Vieques is a particular jewel.

About Puerto Rico - Easily circumnavigate the island when you have left the town. You can' t get astray on this island without GPS, if you come from the USA and have ridden there a great deal, because the whole island is too small for a single vehicle (110 by 40 miles) 3,500 square mile !

From Fajardo, a hire vehicle ($14 per days on your bill, Oct 2012 + $4 per galon of gas) will take you to Fajardo, and if you queue up, you will get a $2 one-way boat trip to this beautiful island. Manys-Went to the island and took a trip from a locals to a shore before going to a pub for every luncheon.

The Fajardo Inn was very beautiful and the near Avenida' s were full of good meals, parties & travel possibilities on the afternoons. Luminous cove on the lefthand side, snorkelling, scouting around the island and other fun were hidden for next year.
