The Tengah is a design area and HDB city in the western region of Singapore. Bordering Choa Chu Kang to the NE, Jurong West and Jurong-East to the South, Bukit Batok to the Easte, and Western Water Catchment to the WE.
Following the demilitarization of the Tengah parade ground, the first apartments in Tengah will open in the mid-19918. Tengah's south-western part is being designed as part of the Jurong Innovation District, a newer industry trend than the Jurong Commercial Estate. Prior to urbanisation, the area now known as Tengah was formerly known as Hong Kah, a China campong just northern of what is now Jurong West[4].
It' s not quite clear when the name "Tengah" became widespread to describe the area. Tengah means "centre", "middle" or "middle" in Malai. During the 1980', as part of the government's relocation plans, the village residents of Hong Kah were relocated to neighboring cities that had been rebuilt by the administration, particularly to today's Jurong Green, Jurong Spring and Bukit Batok areas.
One example is Xingnan Primary School, which used to work in a church along Hong Kah Road in the town. Jurong Green and Jurong Spring HDB properties are given the name "Hong Kah", which probably means that most of the inhabitants of the villages have settled there. Once the settlement was evacuated, the PIE and KJE programs began in the area, which led to the establishment of Jurong West Avenue 2, which led to the ascent of Jurong West New Town and Choa Chu Kang New Town.
Only in 1996 did the northern part become unavailable to the general population and was used by the army for exercise purposes (west of Jurong Road Track 22), followed by the southern part of Hong Kah (east of Jurong Road Track 22) in 2005. The area will be linked to the MRT line of the Jurong region in 2026 and a new intermodal junction will be completed by 2022.
Most of the former Hong Kah Village was an SAF parade ground until November 10, 2015. Eventually the area' s defence education was transferred to Ama Keng Road and the Keat Hong Camp has now been practiced at Ama Keng.
