The Taichung (?? or ??; Tái-zh?ng)[27] is situated in the western part of the Taiwanese Isle. It is the third biggest town on the whole country after New Taipei and Kaohsiung. It is home to many producers and has seen tremendous expansion in the variety of its range of culture in recent years.
Some of the things you should visit Taichung: the world-class scientific museums and walking in the surrounding area. And there are also many renowned overnight fairs to keep you entertained at nocturnal. Among them are the ChungHwa Nightsarket ( ), the Feng-Chia Universities Nightsarket ( ), the Tung-Hai Universities Nightsarket ( ) and the Chung-Shiao Nightsarket ().
Aboriginal people from Taiwan initially inhabited the plains where the city of Taichung is now. The Taichung was established in 1705 as part of Changhua County, initially called Dadun (ch: ??; p: Dàd?n; w: Ta-tun; literally large mound). In 1721 a military formation was established near the present Taichung Park of Lan Ting-chen to strengthen controls.
In 1731 an uprising of the natives erupted north of the river Dajia, after a group of Chinamen had conscripted and forced them to work. A further insurgency, this in 1786, against the Qing government agencies had its origins in the near Dali township, just South of Taichung City. In 1885 Taiwan became a Qing Dynasty China and it became the prefecture of Taiwan, one of three provinces in the new Taiwan area.
Japan has renamed the town of Dadun Taich? (??) and started to evolve the town to make it the first "modern" area of Taiwan. But Taich? was the main burden of early suppression in Japan. This was finished in 1903. One of the few buildings from the Liu period that survived the rebuilding of the town in Japan, the old northern gateway, was relocated to the new gardens.
Taichung Park is still one of the most beloved places in the town for relaxation. In 1908, the first store in Taich? was constructed along JiGuang Road between ZhongZheng and ChengGong Road. Still in use today, it is a favourite place to buy groceries and other things in Taichung town.
The Taichung Middle School (now known as Taichung First High School) was established in 1913 by Lin Hsien-tang and his sibling Lin Lie-tang, two rich Taichung highschoolers. In 1920, Taich? was formally declared a town by the Imperial Government of Japan, and the Town Hall was finished in 1924 after eleven years of work.
In 1921 aaiwanesischer Kulturverein was established in Taipei by Lin Hsien-tang and relocated to Taich? in 1927. The majority of the members of this club came from Taich? and the area. It became a centre of Taiwanske' civilization and a centre of localism. In the end, the rediscovered wealth of Taich? was wasted by the efforts of time.
