Assistance with the selection: Tahitian Islands or Carribean? - Bailewick Message Board
Tahitian Islands or Carribean? We were in French Polynesia six time before we tried the Bahamas. Quite honestly, we both like them - the Carribean is just another one. You' ll be paying a lot for your own and above-average beauty:) Tishkehau would be awestruck for this, and it's less than $$$$$$$ than Bora Bora.
And Tahaa is beautiful too - but not inexpensive. Tahiti is not for you if you are looking for night life or a lot of that. Calm, relaxed, dreamy, Tahiti is the Caribbean for night life. Whitewashed beaches: As you know, French Polynesia is not known for long sandy areas. The flight to Tahiti from LAX is around $1000 per passenger.
Though you can make non-refundable early bookings on some hotels sites for the lower-ranking rooms, even then on Moorea you will see $240 USD/night. When you go to Tahiti (Jan - Mar) in the low seasons, there are some good offers, but the longer you stay, the more the fare rises and the more difficult it becomes to find fresh outdoors.
