It is Fiji's ambition to regain a leading position in local and international matters, as well as in the environment and peace-keeping. It is the South Pacific's business, transport and education service centre. The Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIF), the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the University of the South Pacific have their biggest presence in Fiji.

Since the 2014 election, a number of donor agencies have shifted or increased their representation in Suva. The Fiji region remains the bequest of its policy during the period of the attempted state. Bainimarama has sought to attract foreign investment and has placed emphasis on the issues of economic governance, humanitarian law and global warming.

Foreign investment is subject to due diligence to evaluate the legal clarity, public sector accountsability and opportunities for legal protection. Even though it does not seem that a disproportionately large number of US nationals and visitors are criminals, foreign nationals are attracting more interest than locals and carrying more people. Consequently, foreign nationals have been the targets of armed/unarmed robbery and raids, particularly in certain areas of Suva city centre, in less secure tourism resorts and in more isolated outposts.

Fiji has its weapons limits. A number of aspects of organised criminality in Asia have to do with illicit gaming, sex work, drug trafficking and drug trafficking. Over the past few years, outlawed motorcycling bands in Australia have also tried to build up a footprint in Fiji, but they were not guilty of serious crimes. The large green busses have a tendency to get off in the bus and often do not really get into the bus.

There is relatively no criminal activity at the airport, but it has been reported that objects have been taken from hold luggage. US -American State Department has evaluated SUVA as a place of lesser danger to terrestrial activities that are judged against or interfere with the U.S. government's OFFICE interests. US-American State Department has called SUVA a place of minor political power risk against or against the US government's unofficial interests.

Fiji hosted the first nationwide elections since a 2006 putsch in September 2014. The first of the parties of Premier Voreqe Bainimarama won 59% of the 496,364 popular vote, and shortly afterwards Bainimarama was swear in as nobly appointed premier. Fiji's 50-strong Fiji Assembly consists of 32 Fiji First and 15 NFP and NFP Seat.

Travellers should be aware that after a strong cycle, there is a likelihood that there will be no access to publicly available service for a longer time. Fiji was hit by Winston in February 2016, the most severe hurricane in the world. It was the most severe in Fiji's and the South Pacific Basin's longest ever storms. Usually, however, the policemen have no cars to answer phone conversations, and it is very unlikely that the policemen will be there in good order to interrupt an ongoing outrage. The Fiji Act allows policemen to browse any individual, object, vehicle, load or luggage suspected of being linked to a criminal offence against order or the CREATE.

Regulatory enforcement of the Decree on the Development of the Press Industry, which provides for penalties for reporting on topics of ill-defined "public interest". "For the re-publication or citation of materials that supposedly called into question the Fijian judiciary's sovereignty, the Fijian authorities have persecuted members of the press and civic organisations.

Private persons, members of the press and civic organisations practise self-censorship in order to prevent inappropriate state awareness and possible consequences.
