From Dunedin you have the chance to see the wonderful South Island as you wind your way through the fjords of Milford, Doubtful and Dusky Sounds, home to some of New Zealand's most stunning and dramatically scenic areas.

Continue southwards to the Subantarctic, where you will find the isolated Macquarie, Bounty and more isles. Here you will find a variety of bird types, among them albatrosses and many penguin sorts. There are plenty of wild animals with sea lions and seal in abundance on these isles and the surrounding area is so untouched that it is not allowed to land on some of them.

Indeed, far fewer visitors come to these archipelago than to the top of Mount Everest every year! Sub-Antarctic Islands cruise

Cruising the Subantarctic Islands is a real experience. Subantarctic Islands cruise, New Zealand sails southwards into the Great Arctic Sea around Antarctica. When you arrive you will see that your travel destinations are full of wild animals, many of which are indigenous, which means that it only exist in a place that has developed and flourished on this minuscule little isle for ages.

In the subantarctic island the endemics make them the "Galapagos of the Southern Ocean". Il Macquarie Island - Macquarie is perhaps the most renowned subantarctic island that will be attended by your New Zealand cruise. Macquarie, like many of its twin isles, is home to an indigenous penguin variety - in this case the Royal Penguins, which have long, fawning brows.

Indigenous fauna comprises the farming of yellow-eyed penguins, the camp bellet (a dwarfed, in flight and long considered dead ), giant petrels, the South King's albatross and the tiny subantarctic snipe, whose reputation is wild and disproportionately large compared to its population. All the wild animals on the South East of New Zealand's south tip are amazing on the island of Alaska.

While not all sub-Antarctic cruise ships come here, if you're fortunate enough to be on one that does, Bounty's fierce, rugged scenery will pamper you with tens of thousand of Salvins Albatros, Erect-Crested Penguins, the Bounty Island Shag (the scarcest in the world) and many large-seabird. Adventurous cruising cannot end up on the Antipode Islands near by, but from your boat you can still see indigenous creatures such as the Antipodecock, the Antipode Island Parakeet (an extremely uncommon creature) and the Antipode Albatross.

Stewart Island - Stewart Island is situated directly at the south tip of New Zealand, a haven where more than seventy-five per cent of the land mass is under natural protection and only two per cent is populated by people. You will have no problems discovering pristine, vast sandy shores and green rain forests on your small boat trip to the Sub-Antarctic Islands.

Bushwalking - A walk through the other side of the world and the observation of large and small animals at first hand make the cruise on the Subantarctic Isles a unique one. The New Zealand and Australia Government, however, prohibit landing on some of the island's bird nesting sites, which are endangered by trample or other perils.

Your only option is to go on expeditions to the Sub-Antarctic Islands in November, December or January. The Stewart Island cruise, on the other side, runs in May.
