Whilst this is not a very large aquatic farm, it is a joke and a reasonable price one that did its work and that was to give away a joke time for us and the children. It was a pure, homely place, not the gait vibrations you get in Atlanta's aquatic complex.

It looks like from our discussions rates for airfare, boating, hotel and so on go into the rate at the beginning of.....

Getting to the shipwreck (Navagio) beach in Zakynthos, Greece

Zakynthos Shipwreck is the most wonderful place I have ever seen on the isle. It should be the most wonderful - and I concur. Having visited a number of other, even more exclusive locations (such as Brazil, Thailand, Italy, Mauritius, Georgia, India, Croatia, Albania, Spain, Portugal), I have never discovered a place that would fascinate me as much as Navagio Island.

In fact, the best one in the whole wide open sea is the one that you can see from the side of the rock that surounds it. Most travel agents that offer a day out to the beaches, however, come by ferry, and in this case you will not see it as it says on the post cards or flyers - from above.

It is also not possible to ascend the precipitous rock from the shore. What is the answer if you want to enjoy the views from above? When you want to go to the shipwreck shore, walk on the pebble stones (the shore is unfortunately not sandy) and float in the deep bluish water, there is only ONE way - across the ocean.

A number of travel agencies are offering boating tours (at a low price) to this most popular Greek sandy area. You will also be visiting other nice places off the Zakynthos coastline - such as Blue Caves and Xygia Sulfur Beaches. They are all sensational, but of course the number one is Navagio.

One has to consider that Shipwreck is the most commercially viable place on the island, and (just like in Thailand) it has unfortunately become something I would have compared to ordering a burgers in a quickie. So I did and when we got there it was difficult to believe, but the sand was totally empty!

However, it was enough to photograph the shipwreck without the wild, colourful spots that spoil the landscape - people. Now that you have visited the shore yourself, you must see it from above! You will see how astonishingly nice it is - so much better than from the ocean.

Unfortunately, Navagio is on the other side of Zakynthos, the eponymous city. However, you must think that it will be so simple to find a trip or a local buses that goes there - after all, it is the most popular place in Greece!

From the island city you can take a shuttle service to Anafonitria and then run almost 5 km to the observation deck. From Zakynthos city and back with one hours to discover and savour the area costs 100 EUR.

There' s a trip you can do - known as Back to The Root', it's very inexpensive (30 EUR). You will not go to the beach, but rather to the island and the surrounding towns, places of worship and other places of interest. The observation deck is one of them. I do not suggest this trip, however, if you only want to buy it to see the Navagio outcrop.

It was really beautiful - about the story of Zakynthos, but the amount of work you will do on the observation deck will not be more than 10 mins! You have to queue at the station and when it is your turn, you have about 15 seconds to take a picture and you have to go.

And not to forget that the best pictures cannot be taken from the observation deck, but from the small path around the rock! It made me very excited because we had to spend about 1h in a café in one of the towns, and we only had 15 seconds time for the most wonderful one!

From Zakynthos city, it is a 45 minute ride. Don't restrict yourself to the observation deck full of people! Not the best panoramic view! By following the small footpath along the rock, you can enjoy the most spectacular panoramas of all time. Beside Naviagio you also see a small secret sandy spot just before Navagio - it is well seen from the way (but not from the platform).

Only very few visitors go this way. On the way you can take the best pictures of the shipwreck beach: the actual one, the second one, the ocean and the rock. You have to cross the perimeter of the rock from the observation deck because it is too near.

You won't see the other little paradise beaches. You' ll have to ask yourself how this boat landed on the most gorgeous beaches in the underworld. But, did you know that it is said that even after the crash, the boat shaped the shore and constructed the sands around the unreal hue of the sea?

However, the most exhilarating thing is the formal release - in the 1980', the vessel was hunted by Hellenic officers as it was under suspicion of trafficking liquor and tobacco to Zakynthos. The perpetrators were put on trial, but the tale continues before the officers got to the shipwreck, the natives had already found it and the island was filled with joy!

It is a beautiful sandy spot and, as I said, best seen from above. Humans are so kind, and the waters are as clear as in Greece, and most importantly, you can enjoy as much quality of life as you want in a stunning area. It is worthwhile to take the path for this prospect!
