New Sapporo ChitoseChitose Airport (Shin-Chitose Airport, CTS)
The New Chitose Aiport ( K?k?, CTS) is the major Sapporo airfield, about 50 kilometres south-east of the town. This is one of Japan's most congested airfields and, along with many other national and several scheduled as well as scheduled services, operates the world's largest flight between Tokyo and Sapporo.
Saporo has another international airfield, Okadama International in a more centrally located position, but it only operates a small number of services to places within Hokkaido. The new Chitose International and Sapporo railway stations are linked by frequent JR express train services (35 min, 1070 Yen one way, 4 coaches per hour). There is a Japan Rail Pass and Hokkaido Rail Pass.
There are 15-minute bus services between the terminal and various locations in Sapporo town centre, such as Susukino, Odori Park and Sapporo Station. Several of the busses also service select large urban establishments. A one-way journey lasts about 70-90 min. and is 1030ya. From New Chitose International New Chitose International Station take a 3 minute journey to Minami-Chitose Station and take a fast local to Hakodate.
Disembark at Noboribetsu station about 40 mins later. Journey is fully secured with Japan Rail Pass and Hokkaido Rail Pass. Noboribetsu Onsen is 15 min from Noboribetsu station by coach (340yen, one or two busses per hour). These coaches are run by Donan and are not included in the Japan Rail Pass.
The Donan Coach runs two round trip per days between New Chitose Airport and Noboribetsu Canyon. You can also take a more frequent coach to Muroran and get off at Noboribetsu, from where a shuttleship will take you to downtown Insen.
From Shin-Chitose airport via the Doo Expressway it will take about an hours and cost 1750 Japanese centimes inlls. On free-of-charge streets, the trip is expected to take about 30 additional mins. From New Chitose airport take a 3 minute long New Chitose Intercity to Minami-Chitose station and change to a local fast service to Hakodate.
Disembark at Toya Station about 70 mins later. Journey is fully secured with Japan Rail Pass and Hokkaido Rail Pass. Lake Toya (Toyako Onsen Station ) is 15 min. by coach from Toya station (330 Jen, about one coach per hour). These coaches are run by Donan and are not included in the Japan Rail Pass.
From New Chitose Airport via the Doo Expressway, it will take about 100 min and cost 2970 Japanese Jen in toll fees to get to Lake Toya. The Hokkaido Chuo coach operates four to six busses a days between New Chitose Airport and Lake Shikotsuko. There are several coach operators from December to March, among them Hokkaido Chuo and Niseko Busses, Niseko Busses, Hokkaido Access Network and Good Sports Busses between New Chitose Airport and the various Niseko skiing areas.
Most of the busses stop in Rusutsu. It will take about three hrs to get from the Niseko International Airports. Rates are very different: While Hokkaido Chuo Bus and Niseko Bus calculate 2600 Japanese Yen for a single journey, Sports Whiteliner and Hokkaido Access Network calculate 4000 Japanese Japanese Yen.
Hokkaido Chuo and Niseko busses run a small number of busses between New Chitose, Rusutsu and Niseko airports from mid-July to mid-September, but during the remainder of the year there are no regular public transport links between the airports and the two resorts. Rare rail links between New Chitose and Niseko (Kutchan Station) take about three hour from New Chitose to Otaru.
A one-way ticket is 2630 Japanese Yen and is fully protected by the Japan Rail Pass and the Hokkaido Rail Pass. The Kutchan station and not the Niseko station is the regional transport junction. There is a 15-minute Hirafu shuttle service from Kutchan station every 1-2 hour, and some busses continue to Niseko Village (30 minutes) and Annupuri (45 min, in winters only).

The new building provides many interesting shops, restaurants and leisure activities, making it one of the most enjoyable in Japan.
The Air Terminal Accomodation inside the terminal provides comfortable accommodations for those who depart earlier or arrive later. There is also a large selection of restaurants for those visiting the international airports. Besides a meal there are two theme areas: the Hokkaido Rammen Dojo, where guests can choose from a variety of stores throughout Hokkaido, and the Streetcar District, which is nostalgic for the Sapporo of the past few centuries and serves various Hokkaido specialities.
There are even more shops in the Rera Chitose Output Mall with thousands of shops from all over the world and from all over the world. You can reach the Outdoor Centre in ten minutes by free of charge shuttles or on foot from Minami-Chitose station.
