South Maryland man convicted to over nine years in prison for transporting pornography of children

GREENBELT, MD-Chief U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow convicted Jeffrey Sopher, 40 years old, from Marbury, Maryland, today to 114 month in jail, followed by a lifelong, controlled freedom, for two cases of pedoporn. Judge Khazanov ordered that after his dismissal from jail, Sopher must be registered as a sexual delinquent under the SORNA.

Judge Chasanov also sentenced Tracy Saole, aged 42, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, to two years in jail, followed by three years of watched disclosure, for failing to record as a gender-iddler. Judgements were delivered by Maryland District Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein, Special Agent Richard A. McFeely of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshal Johnny Hughes.

On July 4, 2009, a 3-year-old kid who was asleep in his house was photographed by Sophers, which included a unique sexual one. Soph took the pictures with his mobile and then put them on his computer. Between May 9, 2009 and September 20, 2009, Simon shared pornographic material about children with other people, as well as the photographs he took of the young woman in his home.

At 28 October 2011 a raid order was enforced at Sopher's Residenz. One of the bedrooms, sheets and other items corresponded to the backgrounds of the photographs Sopher had taken of the youngster. Prosecutors also fingerprinted 10 parental porn filings on Sopher's electronic medium, which included one of the pictures Sopher had taken of the youngster.

On an independent case, Tracy Saole confessed that he had to be registered as a sexual assailant after being sentenced in 1997 for harassing a 13-year-old woman. He had harassed the little woman for several years. Saole moved to California after 66 days in prison, where he did not record himself as a sexual perpetrator.

Saole was arrested in California on 25 March 2010 for non-registration as a sexual assailant and imprisoned for 180 years. Saole was recorded as a sexual assailant in California after his liberation. Saole departed California on December 16, 2011 and on December 19, 2011 he and his friend and another unrecorded sexual assailant relocated to a Gaithersburg residency.

The other sexual perpetrator was detained on 5 January 2012 for not registering as a sexual perpetrator. Though Saole was present at the time of his detention, he gave the police an underworld name. Saole was also detained on 10 January 2011 for not registering as a sexual perpetrator in Maryland.

He was also obliged to keep his California registry up to date and had not informed the California government that he had transferred. Sáole told prosecutors that he had gone to Maryland to prevent an open parole charge in California, and although he was conscious of his demand to be registered as a sexual perpetrator, he did not intend to do so.
