Oceania Sport Information Centre - Samoa Awarded Pacific Games

PGC was looking for a new home for the 2019 Games after Tonga withdrew its funding obligations. The Guam and Tahiti had shown interest in organising the games together with Samoa. As Tahiti could not ensure the government's funding, the PGC could choose between Samoa and Guam.

Finally, the PGC Executive Committee said that the Samoa government's pledges were more powerful, which led to their choice. The Guam Games were held in 1999 and Samoa in 2007. The Commonwealth Youth Games 2015 were also held in Samoa, many of which will be used for the 2019 Games.
