Tahitian Islands Sailing

Every paradise is surrounded by a protecting external cay. Unlike the pleasures of the more secluded Tahitian plains, the Leeward Islands are a must see challenging cruising area. Away from Bora Bora, you can cruise to the unspoilt water of the secluded archipelagoes shaped as such.

Then you can head further on to the northern side to visit the mystical Marquesas Islands, where there are still Polish legend and myth that are still represented in their pristine artwork tattoos. The Paul Gauguin cruiser, which offers luxurious holidays on Tahiti in Polyynesian seas, has several annual routes, including the Tuamotus and Marquesan Islands. However, the best sailing terms for yachts are when the wind blows between April and October. During Tahiti's summers, between November and March, there is less wind and it is warm and moist. Air Tahiti Nui, Air France, Qantas, Japan Airline and Air New Zealand offer frequent round-trip services to Tahiti.

Sydney-Tahiti is also 8 hour flight, with a stopover in Auckland, New Zealand. The Faa'a Airport, just outside the capitol Papeete, is the Tahiti hub for all our foreigners. The runways on the smaller islets are quite shallow, so there is a fantastic (unprofitable) flight from Papeete to over 40 scheduled locations in France.
