Initially inhabited by the Mescalero Apache, the area was called Rio Ruidoso by the Hispanics. "Profoundly ingrained in Indian civilization and inspired by the early Spaniards, Ruidoso still retains its wealth of heritage, coupled with the comforts of a world-class alpine town.

About Ruidoso? A picturesque town in the craggy mountains of the Sierra Blanca, Ruidoso offers a multitude of outdoor pursuits for every traveller. It' the ideal week-end trip or a week-long trip for travellers from Texas, Mexico and beyond. It is centrally located and is a great place to explore all of southern New Mexico.

Located near Carlsbad Caverns, Lincoln National Forest and White Sands National Monument, to name but a few. The Ruidoso is really the year-round alpine play area of the southwest and offers something new to discover at any time of the year. They can also discover the wonder of nature and the beauties of South New Mexico.

There is nothing like horse back rides, walking and tents in the midst of wonderful Alps woods and picturesque mountains. In Ruidoso you can taste the many fine dining in our restaurant with genuine new Mexico Cuisines! It also transforms into a paradise for MTB in summers. If you are a less adventure seeker, you could either play the Ruidoso Downs Race Track or place your wagers at Casino - Inner of the Mountain Gods, Billy the Kid Casino and Casino Apache.

Strolling the roads of Ruidoso you can discover the uniqueness of the Midtown neighborhood or take home a bit of indigenous heritage by visiting one of the many antiques and Indian stores selling scarce heritage. There are many historical and culturally interesting places to see.

We have a lovely natural environment with more than a million hectares of wildlife and forests, perfect for walking, horse back riding and MTB. Walk through the Ruidososo's walk-in downtown boutique shops for one-of-a-kind clothes, arts and handmade Indian jewellery that are eaten and eaten in our local restaurant and pub.

Summers bring horseracing to the Ruidoso Downs circuit, where the All-American Futurity, the wealthiest quarter race in the United States, takes place every Labor Day week-end. The southernmost area in the United States, Skia Apache provides deep snow runs in the snow in winter and in the snow in summers to the top of the Sierra Blanca, where you can experience the beautiful scenery of the Lincoln National Forest and White Mountain Wilderness.

Play on one of our four stunning alpine greens; each course is set against a stunning backdrop that is seldom reached by other greens. Explore historical Lincoln and Fort Stanton, where the Wild West continues to live in vivid historical life. Recompense yourself with a cottage in the forest, a full resorts or a luxurious holiday apartment.
