The Philippines, an island of several thousand islets that form a unique land, enjoys its place on a chart with seawater around it, which is also its most abundant source. To a land whose many islets are themselves enclosed by the ocean, all its islets - both large and small - are a possible hot spot for its people.

However, since there can only be one place that can carry the name of the best sea food spring in the land, it took one provincial community somewhere in the western Visayas to carry the seal - the provincial of Capiz. Why is Capiz the capital of shellfish? Capiz Oblast has a wealth of water sources thanks to the Siberian Sea, which also offers a scenic view from the coast and the Jintotolo Canal, which also has its own contribution to the seas.

It is the seat of the biggest Catholic bell in all of Asia and the only place where you can admire the church of Santa Monica, built of celery. Roxas City's 132-foot Sacred Heart is considered the highest of its kind in the Philippines. As the Philippine shellfish capitol, the visit to this area will never be completed without sampling its dishes.

The BayBay Sea Food Grills are one of the best places to see and taste Roxas City's shellfish. On Baybay Beach (hence the name), this place is a stable with sea food. Today, its pristine location is the birth place of President Manuel Roxas, First President of the Philippine Republic and most famous sire of Roxas City, in whose honour the city received its name.

The old and impressive Spanish city bridge, erected in 1910, remains powerful and is still in use today. A further old building that still exists in Roxas City is the Bandstand, which was erected in the early 1920s.

The journey from Roxas City to Carles takes about 1.5h. Only 3-4 hrs from Roxas City you will arrive at another interesting city in the countryside - Iloilo. Roxa's city is surrounded by fastfood outlets. It is 14 kilometres from Roxas City, so it is best to deal with the tricyclist first.

You can take a coach or shuttle to Roxas City from Kalibo. It takes about 1.5h. You can take the Ceres coach from Iloilo City to Capiz, the journey takes about 3-4h. It takes only 2 to 2.5 minutes to get to the village and there are delivery trucks with Ilo-ilo-Roxas and Capiz.

But I always chose the Ceres bus because it is more convenient and offers more legroom. Iloilo' s Ceres Terminals are situated in the Tagbak -North Ceres Terminals Iloilo City. In order to get to the airport just take a taxi and tell the bus to take you to the Ceres airport to Roxas City.

The trike is the main means of transport in Roxas City and other communities in Capiz. Simply make sure you settle on the prize first if you want the bike to take you to your goal, which is far from the city. The city of Roxas, Capiz has various types of lodging for every visitor to the town.
