Raumati Beach

Spaceati relates to two neighboring places on the Kapiti coast of New Zealand's northern island. Situated 50-60 km northwest of Wellington and immediately southwest of the major city of Paraparaumu. This area is just behind Raumati. "Raumati " is the linguistic term from M?ori for "summer".

Spaceati Beach is the north of the two, both are favourite bathing resorts on the Cook Strait shore, within view of the Tasman Sea. It has many attractions such as Kapiti College, where Peter Jackson (New Zealand filmmaker) and Christian Cullen (Rugby Union Footballer) were trained, St. Mark's Church, the huge sand beach (popular for walking, angling and vacationing), the Raumati Beach Shopping Village, Kapiti Island and Weka Park.

Raumati Beach School is the most important elementary school. Wharemauku stream hits the ocean at Raumati Beach on the north side of Raumati Marine Garden. It is a favourite resort: it has a mobile minature rail. There is a boating platform on the beach and a towing vehicle is available from the Raumati Fishing Club.

Throughout the year, Raumati Beach hosts several major shows, such as the Raumati Beach Surf Casting Contest, which draws thousands of fishermen from all over New Zealand. Kapiti Woman's Triathlon also takes place in the Marine Gardens every year and draws large numbers of people and is well-funded. Situated in the southern part of this city, between it and the city of Paekakariki, is Queen Elizabeth Parc, a 12 km² large provincial reserve that was used during the shooting of The Lord of the Rings:

South Roomati is known for the large number of its inhabitants who pursue alternate life styles and art. Raumati South is the most important elementary educational institution. The Steiner school'Te Ra' is also situated at Pappelallee. Kapiti Bears - Kapiti Coast Rugby League Club Inc. is situated on the boundary between Raumati South and Raumati Beach.

From Matthews Park, Menin Road, the association is operating from the Wellington Rugby League Zone. Kapiti Coast United will play at Weka Park in Raumati Beach.
