Pacific Island Tours
Island Tours in the PacificPacifica Islands Excursion. Help the Dreamer
Work with our regional distributors to identify best practices on pollution control, an important endeavor in a land where the natural world is often taken for granted and where a sense of sustainability is still in its infancy. On the Pacific Islands, freshwater is valuable and the climate changes the people.
This trip uses only guest homes and resort accommodation run by locals, all of which are constructed from the island's ancient material. Use of coconuts and pandaanus is tied up with hand-made yarn and used to construct community and townhouses. In this way, these small archipelagos retain their presence and vitality in their typical architectural and cultural heritage.
Throughout the trip to the Pacific Isles, our travel guide will teach travelers the right behavior, both culturally and ecologically, and we make sure that we don't make a lasting impact on their trip and take all the waste with us. It is more dependent on air travel than your avarage trip, given the distance traveled and the shortage of inter-island transport alternatives.
Most of the timetables are for inter-island trips by the inhabitants and not for tourist use; some of the destinations we are visiting on this tour are visited by less than 1000 people a year, with one island receiving only 200 each. Inter-island services are indispensable for both the tourist and the locals.
We have an estimated of only six guests in our groups, and many tours are privately organised with only two people. It is particularly important on some of the Pacific Isles as some of the smaller ones become smaller each year and there is a high probability that they will disappear. To underline our dedication to responsible tourism, all customers will be provided with a copy of our Code of Conduct for Travelers and their itineraries.
The use of goods and servies from the region is very important on this route. Contrary to many other providers, we believe that sending a guide from abroad is an undue strain on your budget and our CO2-emissions. Working in close cooperation with our vendors, we make sure that our community is included in the provision of the necessary amenities such as accommodation, pensions and dining.
That means your funds stay in the region to help the area. Whenever possible, we use public transportation (e.g. train or bus) and we always use regional bars, supermarkets and stores and encourage our customers to engage with the municipalities they pass through, both in financial and social terms.
Your trips help and promote the developement of regional service providers. During the entire trip, customers have the possibility to engage with the natives through conversation and culture. It fosters interactions between visitors and natives and directly contributes to the benefit of the village population. Customers also have the option of buying items of souvenir and handicraft to help the communities and their livelihoods.
In our opinion, the tourist industry is a double-edged blade that must be managed very well. Restricting our activities in areas where our cultural heritage can be very vulnerable, we are hoping to prevent the nature of an area from changing due to repetitive and protracted exposures to it.
It is our intention to go to an area as a friend, not as an intruder, and to make what we see enjoyable for others for many years to come.
