The main settlement on Stewart Island/Rakiura is Oban, the southernmost inhabited island of the New Zealand archipelago. Coming to Stewart Island by boat, there will be a member of the crew at the shipyard to collect you and take you to the lodge. The Stewart Island is available for group reservations for up to 12 persons (6 bedroom, living room, galley and barbecue), please ask us. This is one of the biggest attractions of my 6 weeks in New Zealand. Even though we were here in another Stewart Island period, we were very lucky to be able to enjoy again the tranquility of this one.

Lisa, the local executive, is an inestimable treasure of wisdom and her supreme human aptitude. You' ll find this well-equipped hostel with a great panoramic look at Half Moon Bay from the porch, whether it be mornings, days or evenings! "We were on Stewart Island for two days in November."

Luckily we were able to spend the night at Stewart Island Lodge when they cancelled. After a very coarse passage from Bluff we were collected at the jetty, got a 10-minute drive through the city and drove up the hillside (yes, it's quite precipitous, but we've run several places and we went to the lodge in the mid-1970s, so it's not that hard).

Lisa, who was funny, enchanting and very effective, welcomed us there. This lodge is a little expensive, but it's rewarding. "We spent three night at Stewart Island Lodge and just liked it there." For us, the dot on the i was Lisa the executive director.

The rooms were quiet and the view was breathtaking. "We spent 2 night (1 to 3 February 2017) at Stewart Island Lodge.

We had the ideal period from the pick-up at the island's shipping port to the departure. The room was excellently furnished with the most beautiful views of Halfmoon Bay. All in all we felt especially and our stay on the island was something really unique. "Stewart Island Lodge Aiece of Paradise " is situated on a precipitous hillside overlooking Half Moon Bay, where the Bluff Katamarans are on the continental mire.

There' s a fantastic panoramic over Oban - the lower side means you can go up and down a cliff! It was very much to our liking that after checkout we were able to remain in the lounges while we waited for our flights. There was an impressing choice of breakfasts to choose from and the visitors used the opportunity to exchange experience on Stewart Island.

Beautiful view over the port. Quite a precipitous (but short) way to the hut, but they hit you at the boat in a truck and give you a brief trip through the city before they take you to the hut. At the checkout they will also take you and your baggage to the boat.

An enthusiatic, kind hostess (Lisa) at the hostel with plenty of suggestions and hints on what to do in the area. Just one tonight remained, was so tried to alter our plan and remain more. "We recently spent a sleepover at Stewart Lodge." It is the place to spend the nights on Stewart Island.

It' s a fantastic view and the cot is the best cot I ever had! Love our sojourn. It' a little precipitous to the hostel, but the city center is only a few walking miles away. Enjoying our sojourn, we're definitely back! The employees are competent and kind and it was a good opportunity to get together with other people.

The rooms are superb, and the panorama is fantastic - and a good walk all around, albeit sometimes a bit sheer. "Breathtaking view" This hostel is located on a hillside overlooking Oban and the cove. Lisa is the star of this hostel, which administers the rooms and hosts the visitors.

"Little hut in NZ bird island" Stewart island hut is a small place - can accommodate 10-12 persons. The main feature is that Stewart is one of the few places in New Zealand with conserved (native) wildlife.

"Amazing view and service" We spent 2 night. Stunning vistas. She gave us a guided walk through the motel (very clean) and showed us a map of the area with proposals. We only transport passenger and cargo on the Bluff to Stewart Island ferries.

Which kind of fowl will we see on Ulva Island? Ulva Island and Stewart Island's birdworld is of extraordinary interest, not only because of the abundance of top-notch wildlife such as bison, dove, Stewart Island Robin and cocoa, but also because Stewart Island and its small runaways offer shelter to a number of lesser-known bird species, including the NZ Yolk, South Island Semitrailer, Sagittarius, Oystercatcher and Red-yellow-crowned Conure.

Where' s the next ATM in Bluff? At the Bluff Visitor Terminal you can buy your ticket either with either your own personal computer (EFTPOS) or with a major international debit system (credit card).

The island has no banking facilities and the closest one is in Invercargill. May I buy dinner on Stewart Island?
