Oahu or Kauai

Kauai or Oahu

When your idea of a Hawaii holiday is comfortable luxury, scenery and tranquility - all with a small city feel - then Kauai is for you. A lot of people are considering splitting a trip to Hawaii into two or more islands. The Oahu and Kauai are completely different islands. To be faster, busier and more urban, choose Oahu. I can't choose between Maui, Kauai and Oahu.

The Kauai or the Oahu? - Kauai Forum

oahu or kauai? try to choose which islands to go to? that's right after her finale, so we'll probably relax, spread out, get some exposure to the sea, we won't dive (maybe snorkeling, but that's no big deal), maybe jet-ski, but that's no privilege either, we like hiking hills, cascades, volcanoes up and down (but we've never been visiting others, so we don't give vulcanoes priority), we like wild animals and flower.

We' re quite choosy feeders and junk food/fried/etc is not in order with us, should be wholesome or ethnically or upscale eating (focus on the first two)....does that give a good notion? which isle would you suggest between the two or maybe another? this is mid/end of Jan.... Thanks!

Oahu vs. Kauai time - Hawaii Forums

Oahu and I just spent three beautiful nights there and it was very, very, very, very bustling! As I have never seen in this season, the last two trips 2011 and 2013. I' ve not been to Kaua'i since early 2014 and January 2013, both inconspicuous, not so overcrowded sojourns.

Thank God Maui is less overcrowded on my first days......... Actually, I really like to just stay on an isle, settle in and reach the isletime without interruption. You really want to see both, I would go to O'ahu for three days and do the bustling first, then go to Kaua'i and if possible go home from there.

Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island????? - hawaii bulletin board

Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland????? Hi everyone, We are both in our late 20s, very busy and we enjoy nice landscapes - (this year we traveled through the West US nationalparks - 8 of them in 27 countries and we liked every one of them). I know from what I have been reading that neither Big Iceland nor Kauai lack nature's beautifulness, but we just can't choose which to incorporate into our first-edition.

On our journey we would like to snorkel (seeing tortoises and Dolphin would be the dream), hike, see water falls and enjoy some free and easy access to the sea (not too much:-)). A thing Kauai seems to have better are the beautiful sandy areas, right? Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island?????

There' s a lot to do on every single islet. It' going to be a little like a hurricane, but this is the favourite way to see 3 isles over 15-night. Big Iceland is so big that it must be handled as two separated islets. Big Iceland is large enough to accommodate all the other inner islets and there is still space (10,430 km2).

Each island is one of a kind. Maui' not really like Kauai. Well-known for its famous winding and winding road to Hana (through luxuriant jungle) with the Pipiwai Trail (bamboo forest) at the end, the resting Haleakala (a "drive up" volcano), outstanding snorkelling (from boot / from bank / at Molokini) and long, uninterrupted beaches.

Magnificent, easily accessible sandy beach. It' s more advanced on the west and south sides (the dryer sides) than Kauai, but there are also bags with less development. The Kauai is less advanced. It is the oldest and most perpendicular isle. Luxuriant, wonderful. The breathtaking North Shore will be at its best in June.

The Kauai has many unbuilt shores and countryside. In contrast to Oahu, the Kauai motorway does not run in a series. Much of Kauai's uncultivated parts are in private ownership. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island????? This big island is BIG. The rest of the island fits into the Big Island and still has space.

If you can take more travel to BIG Island, please do so. If your flight is arranged as it is, you would begin with Oahu and then jump to Kaua'i, then to Maui for the last stop. Do you know that you will travel half a days between the isles.

This does not involve the amount of fuel you need to fill the vehicle before you return it to the agent, and then the transfer back to the airfield. They need a rented vehicle on all but Oahu isles. Making difficult decisions, but knowing that every single one of the isles is a delight.

Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland????? Don't switch too soon, Oahu!! Departure from Oahu, flight to Kauai and departure from Maui. No more than 4-5 hours to go to another destination, return your vehicle etc. Rental vehicles on all of our isles. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland?????

Will that make a big deal with Big Iceland? Would you still vote for Kauai? Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland????? If you really want to involve Hawaiian ( "the big island"), you want to stay there for at least 8 days.

Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland????? Adding up those three working nights makes the Big Islands more doable. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Iceland????? It'?ll take Big Iceland a whole weekend, at least. On Oahu or Maui they may not be very "full" in June. Kohala alone has the sun-drenched, vog-free shores of this isle.

The northern bank is similar to Kauai. Ohhu is also'old', it's just that it' is not so dramatically pale. Devote your first days in Hawaii to relaxing and adapting to the differences in times. I would make "city" and "historical" and abandon the falls, shores etc. for other isles. Maui' got some stuff from every single isle.

It' got easier sandy areas with *good* marine wildlife -- not as good as Big Island, but good. The way to Hana is very tropic, similar to Kauai. The Haleakala is Maui's accessible vulcano, and you can follow the sparse volcanic activity from its last volcanic outburst to its entry into the ocean in southern Maui.

Maui' s falls will be large or small, according to last winter's rain. Maui has the best two in the state. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island????? Notice that July 4 is American Independence Day - a very favorite period for families (as in June).

Allow yourself at least (!) 5 overnight stays per island ..... at least 7 for the Big Island - as it is BIG. We know that 15 is not much of a day, but since we travel from such a long way, we would like to see 3 different islands>>> The amount of free day you have is the amount of free day you have.

They can try to robb Peter-to-pay-Paul.... but that doesn't mean you will see more - you will actually see less, given the loss of time of transit. Saving on an island to spend your money at an airfield is not a good notion. The Maui and the Big Island stand out - but Oahu also has some great places and Kauai.

All islands have great sands. There is also a resting vulcano on Maui - Haleakala: The volcanic island named MEASIVE. ALL islands are nice! All the big islands have a similarity. Maui Kauai is more like him. Understood that you need a vehicle on one of the big islands except the city of Honolulu on the island of Oahu.

In general Oahu is rustic (beautiful beaches!!!!) - so you need a vehicle there to discover it. So I divided the night in half - and visited Oahu and Maui or Kauai. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island????? If you have only 15 working hours, I would make the three smaller island (Kauai, Oahu, Maui), because the big island really needs more times (at least 7 nights).

Big Iceland is probably the "most unique" of all the other archipelagoes, as it is the youngest of them all, with an energetic volcan and newer activities, so that the scenery mirrors this in all geological characteristics and (old) caves. The best snorkelling is on Big Iceland, but you will also be able to snorkel very well on Maui.

I like Oahu and Kauai but Maui also has many great sands. Big Island's coastline is nice, though less and smaller (in general), and it has some truly unparalleled coastlines with rocky cliffs along the rim. Oahu, Maui and Kauai or Big Island?????

I' d just stay with two isles if you only had 15 night. You' re having a significant schedule shift and jettisoning, so your first few blurry years. I would say three isles are more sensible if you are prepared to give up stopping in Seattle and book three overnight stays in Hawaii.

But since you haven't signed it yet, I would just get started by picking the three isles and then sign up for fare - there's no need that it should be much lower priced to or from any isle if you look around.

Had it been me, I would have chosen BI, Kauai and Oahu. Frequently for me, when I am reading through different answers and views, I know when people resonate with me, although I think that all isles have something of what you want, here are my general thoughts with what you have been telling us as guides.

BI has the best snorkelling and world class snorkelling with the world class snorkelling mantas - one of a kind on the isles. BI has the most protected areas and historical places of the archipelago. It' s accesible and conserved hot and historical places are one of the best parts of the isle and many are little known or frequented, making it even better iso.

The BI shores are by far the least populated of the four main isles and many have special characteristics - such as dark sands, "queen baths" and old fish ponds. That' s why they are my favourite Hawaiian beach, even though we don't have as many or as big a beach as on Oahu or Maui.

They' re also much less advanced than Maui and Oahu. And Kauai has nice coastlines, but I wouldn't say that they are necessarily "better" than the BI coastline, although it's tough to defeat Ke'e, Makua and Hanalei Bay for the above-ground world. It can be very tricky to park at Ke'e and other northern shores.

The Kauai River Kayak is great pleasure, sea kayak and boom boating on the BI is great.
