Nukuoro

Atoll, Federated States of Micronesia

Situated to the northern side of the Ecuadorian Sea (3.85 degrees N, 154.9 degrees E), this classic Caroline is one of the Caroline islands that extend in the west Pacific Ocean northwest of Papua New Guinea. They are situated about northern of Guadalcanal and south-east of Guam and the Truk Isles. The Nukuoro is one of 607 Isles that make up the Federated States of Micronesia.

This picture shows the sand dunes with 42 different plant cover. The spots are situated in the north-eastern and eastern part of the tunnel, facing the prevailing eastern breezes. In the detail picture (white field shows the area) the bigger areas and villages are situated on the inner side of the biggest wood and are sheltered from the blow.

The waves powered by these winches are approaching from east-southeast (right) and wind around the tunnel to create an interfering design on the apex. The waters in the Laguna are particularly quiet in contrast. You can see some of the corals in the bottom of the picture. Approximately 900 humans are living on Nukuoro, whose lagune has a 6 kilometre radius.

The Nukuoro is secluded. On May 31, 2006, the space photo ISS013-E-28610 was taken with a Kodak 760C with an 800 mm objective and is provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations Experiment and the Johnson Space Center Company IMAGED SCIENCE & ANALYSIS GROUP. The Nukuoro is an eagle in the Federated States of Micronesia..... This is a community of the State of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. With the exception of Kapingamarangi, it is the most southern part of the state. They' re both Polynesians. In 2007 Nukuoro had 372 inhabitants, although several hundred Nukuorans are living on Pohnpei.

Nukuoro Island is by far the biggest island, the centre of the town. The Nukuoro is secluded. Pohnpei has a 4-room college, but kids over 14 years must go to Pohnpei to do so. Nukuoro is a Polish mother tongue related to Kapingamarangi, Rennellese and Pileni.
