Norfolk Island's new educational legislation

The Norfolk Island Central School has just implemented new training regulations to help provide a wider variety of service at Norfolk Island Central School. As a result, the law will provide more opportunities for learning and further promote the school' s efficient operation. Although the new training rules are inspired by New South Wales law, they have been adapted to the situation on Norfolk Island.

According to the new legislation, all kids will remain in school until the end of the tenth grade. It will help the high level of education on the island and bring the minimal standards into line with those of NSW pupils. After the 10th grade and up to the age of 17, a greater emphasis is placed on developing a university.

Pupils must remain in school after the 10th grade or must complete another recognized course or work. It will supplement the school's already impressing 10-12 year retentive age. In order to facilitate the transfer, there are specific rules for those who were 15 years old before 1 January 2018.

Such pupils do not have to remain in school, go back to school or participate in any other recognised course or job provided that they are 15 years old and enrol in school before 1 January 2017. The other pupils must remain in the school until the end of the 10th grade and then go on to school or participate in another recognised course or job until they are 17 years old.

The regulations for the beginning of school and instruction of the Norf'k and Norfolk Island cultures remain unchanged under the new Law. Parents' and citizens' association will maintain its important part in supporting the recovery and well-being of pupils and the involvement of parents and the fellowship in curricula.

The impact of the new legislation on the EU will be restricted on the basis of the Commonwealth Minister's legal framework. In November last year, the municipality was asked about the amendments to the law on training. For the NSW staff at the school, too, a number of labour relationship legislation has just come into force.

This legislation clarifies the terms and conditions of work for NAWI staff and does not apply to other members of the group.
