Notouti is an area of Kiribati. Situated on the Southern Gilbert Islands, 38 km from Tabiteuea and 250 km from Tarawa. It is the third biggest of the Gilbert Islands and is the place where the Roman Catholics were first founded in Kiribati in 1888.
There is a county office on the isle in the town of Matang. He is the most senior civil servant on the isle. Former Ieremia Tabai comes from Nonouti. Nonouti Islands and the villagers are: Where the first Catholics came in 1888, just behind the apsis of the Catholics in the town of Taboiaki, are the six tombs of important international ministers and members of the Catholics.
Across from this Catholic church is the largest one in Kiribati, known as Aake Maeaba.
