NiyhauThe LIHUE - The Wai'ale'ale project at Kauai Community college provides funding, academics and other support to break down obstacles for undergraduates who would not otherwise be enrolled in university. Wai'ale'ale project is one of more than a decade of programmes about Kauai and Niihau in cooperation with Kamehameha schools to enhance the performance of the local Hawaiians.
The Kamehameha Schools has granted more than $1.9 million in capital expenditures subsidies to help cooperation in Kauai and Niihau for the ongoing business year, which began on July 1. In the Wai'ale'ale project, this means that 150 local Hawaiians in their first year of study receive help, which increases the prospects for succeeding aftershow.
Kamehameha Schools has allocated a total of 24 million dollars in subsidies throughout the country for this tax year. Allocations are targeting four national-$4. 6 million for early-study, $12 million for kindergarten-draw-12 training, $4.25 million for colleges and careers and $3 million for'Aina and Community Involvement - with the aim of enhancing natives Hwaiian educational outcomes throughout nursery schools preparedness, third-grade readings scores, eight-class maths nicks, punctual high schools final installments and finishing post-secondary training.
Investment in Kauai and Ni'ihau programmes and ventures amounted to more than $1.9 million: - Kanu I Ka Pono Inc. for the financing and programme design of the Kanuikapono Public Charter School. - Aha Punana Leo Inc. supports Ke Kula Ni'ihau O Kekaha in financing and growing per student.
- Kauai's language for the Kawaikini New Century Public Charter School and the Manokalanipo CVS Project. - Kanaka Aupuni A Ni'ihau Aloha to promote the Kula Aupuni Ni'ihau A Kahelelani Aloha (KANAKA) New Century Public Charter School (Ni'ihau dialects and English) and the prekindergarten through a bi-lingual syllabus for Hiswaiian and English.
- Kapaa Primary offers alphabetization and cultural enhancement to approximately 124 pupils in classes K-5. "From' ?lelo Hawai'i to'aina-based learning, these investment strengthens our understanding through the unique nature of Kauai and Niihau and enables local Hawaiian identities and pedagogical advancement to flourish," said Kamehameha School Regional Director Buffy Ofisa.
