The major city of Waikato, Hamilton is on the Waikato River, New Zealand's longest river with 265m. The Hamilton area is backed by small wealthy cities such as Cambridge, famous for its large British tree population, Te Awamutu, famous for its rosaries and the historical St. Johns Anglican Church, Otorohanga, whose wildlife sanctuary has the biggest walkable birdhouse in the southern hemisphere, and Matamata, the heart of the country's curiosity.

Waikato is one of the most green regions in the canyon. A New Zealand holiday in the area's main attractions are the Waitomo Caves with their glowworm caves and caves. Located less than 50 leagues southward of Hamilton, Waitomo Caves form an extensive subterranean net of water-formed lime caves.
