It is chaired by Dennis Pu'uhonua "Bumpy" Kanahele,[2] the spokesman of the group and head of state[3] In comparison to other independent organisations that rely on the re-establishment of the empire, it supports a reublican state. 1989 the group squatted the area around the Makapu?u beacon at O?ahu.
The members of Kaupo Beach, near Makapu?u, were taken in 1993. Canahele was a prime commander of the crew, as well as the head of the group as a whole. A descendent of Kamehameha I, eleven generation away,[4] Dennis Pu'uhonua Kanahele is both the spokesman of the organisation and the "head of state" of the nation of Hawai?i.
This group ended its occupancy in exchanges for the restitution of surrendered property in the neighboring municipality of Waim?nalo, where they founded a town, a culture centre and Waim?nalo (sanctuary)[4] The group almost repeatedly loses their property, both due to feelings promoted by campaigners against the haweiian sovereign movements and due to issues of rental and third-party coverage.
