Mt Aspiring National Park
Emerging National ParkAbout Mt Aspiring National Park, Wanaka Park Tracks NZ
The World Heritage area is a marvellous mixture of high mountain ranges, lovely riverside dales and secluded wildlife. The third biggest national park in New Zealand (355,543 hectares) is part of the Te Wahipounamu - Southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area. From Wanaka, via the Makarora and Matukituki Valley, it offers a choice of shorter, easier hikes off the Haast Pass Road and more serious traps such as the Gillespie Pass Circuit, Wilkin Valley, Aspiring Hut, Liverpool Bivy and Cascade Saddle.
